Top Rated Robot Vacuums

A robot vacuum will keep floors clean enough to reduce the frequency you need to manually vacuum. Choose a robot vacuum with good navigation, has the ability to clean stairs and corners and has an enormous bin that only needs to be cleaned out every now and then.

There are models that clean and charge themselves, a feature that may be beneficial for those with children or pets. The top performers in our tests have great ability to overcome obstacles.

1. IRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

The i3+ EVO is similar to its sibling the i3 EVO. They differ only in that the i3+ comes with self-emptying capabilities. This makes the i3+ a great choice for people who want a hands-off, fully automated cleaning experience, but aren't afraid of having to empty their dust bin manually when it fills up.

Both robots do well cleaning up surface debris from carpets and hard floors, and they are very good in maneuvering around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart maps of your home that help the i3+ EVO to navigate and clean in a way that maximizes efficiency. The i3+ isn't able to feature obstacle avoidance features like the i7+ or other top-rated robots that we test. It can get stuck on power cords or house cleaning Robot socks, and may have trouble navigating between different surfaces, like hardwood and rug.

iRobot recommends clearing areas in which the i3+ EVO will vacuum before you use it, and include putting away any clutter or toys it might encounter. It's also a good idea to keep the bin and filter clean so they aren't clogged by dirt. If the i3+'s internal bin is empty or the battery is not fully charged, it returns to the docking station, and it automatically emptys the dirt into the docking station's external dustbin. It then continues cleaning from where it started. The battery's life span is approximately an hour and a half of continuous use. It takes three hours to charge.

2. IRobot Roomba i7+

The iRobot i7+ is an excellent model from iRobot's flagship line and is packed with the latest technology. It has self-charging and self-navigating, but the most important feature is its auto-emptying bin. This will eliminate the need for routine maintenance.

The Roomba I7+ is able to better map rooms with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also integrates with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and it can control your robot via the app or voice.

The i7+ is faster and more agile in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also removed large pet hair pieces from all surfaces, including carpeting. The biggest advantage over the Eufy is the self-emptying bin that eliminates major sources of maintenance and reduces recurring cost.

We were also awestruck by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services which we used to instruct the robot vacuum cleaner cheap to start, stop or pause its cleaning sessions, move itself around the room and sweep the area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. After being connected, to speak commands to the i7+, like "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options for managing i7+ settings and evaluating the performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

In a world of vacuums that are cordless and look like minivans or buses, this tiny Dyson model is an automobile. It is powerful enough to replace a traditional stand-up vacuum in a majority of homes, but it is also compact enough to fit on a coffee table or bookcase.

The V10 is powered with a Lithium-ion battery with 7 cells of energy, which produces energy that lasts for 60 minutes. The sophisticated whole-machine filter system traps allergens, then releases cleaner air into your home. Its specialized head uses stiff nylon bristles that penetrate deep into carpets, and then pick up large dust or crumbs. It comes with three suction modes to suit the task at hand. It is able to quickly change between handheld and floor vacuum and vice versa.

This model also has a dock that charges to 100% in 3.5 hours and provides easy access to two attachments and an Wand clip. This is a significant improvement over earlier Dysons, that require a long charge and are difficult to store.

The biggest issue with the V10 is its short run time. As CR's tests show, its marketing claims of up to 60 minutes are misleading. This is a standard, not exceptional, battery-powered cordless vacuum's run time. That's still enough run time to get rid of the majority of an average-sized House Cleaning robot, but not quite long enough to clean every area (though the second time around usually does the trick). This doesn't mean that this model isn't a good choice: It's lighter and agile than older cordless Dysons and its vacuuming efficiency is better on low-pile carpet.

4. iRobot Roomba 694

One of iRobot's most popular robot vacuums the 694 is an entry-level model that's an excellent choice for people who don't want to invest too much money on a robot. It's capable of sucking up most kinds of debris in our testing, and it often goes over the same areas multiple times to give a thorough clean. Its flat front side helps it reach into corners and along the edges of walls which is a nice feature.

Its intelligent navigation system makes use of iAdapt to stay clear of obstacles and navigate your home, but it lacks the ability to map that comes with more sophisticated models such as our top picks, the i3+ EVO and j7+ series. This means that it can sometimes get stuck on things like phone cords or furniture that isn't in good condition, and often runs out of battery power before making it back to its base.

The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in all aspects, as it has fewer components that require regular cleaning and is equipped with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, has lower recurring costs, has more advanced automation capabilities and is better at moving itself. It also has a larger dustbin, and charges more quickly.

The eufy RoboVac X8 has a superior battery longevity than the Roomba 694. It also has physical boundaries strips that can be controlled by your smartphone's voice assistance. It is also more durable, has a stronger motor, and is more effective on floors with low pile and bare.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a name is seen on a variety of home electronics It's no surprise that they're one of the most reputable robot vacuum and mop manufacturers. Their Jet Bot AI+ is loaded with cutting-edge onboard intelligence technology for navigation and obstacles avoidance.

It's also a bit more expensive than some of the other models we've tested and could be a deal-breaker for some shoppers.
