Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate around your home, but it isn't equipped with the mapping capabilities of more sophisticated models like our top selections such as the i3+ EVO and the j7+ series. As a result, it can sometimes get stuck on things like phone cords and furniture that isn't in good condition, and often runs out of battery power before returning to its home base.

The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in many ways, as it has fewer components that need regular cleaning and is equipped with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, has lower recurring costs, has more advanced automation capabilities and is better at moving itself. It also has a larger dustbin and is charged faster.

The elegant RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 for a variety of reasons, since it has a better battery life, has the ability to alter its suction power mode manually and comes with physical boundary strips, and is operated by your phone's voice assistant. However, it wasn't particularly well with larger objects, like cords and socks which was disappointing. It's also a little more expensive than some of the other models we've tested and could be a deterrent for certain shoppers.
