All-terrain stroller is light durable, sturdy and provides excellent maneuverability. Its one-hand fold is compact, which means it's lightweight and is freestanding when folded. The cushioned seat reclines to a nearly flat position, and there's a huge storage bin and canopy. Baby-friendly? Yes, with an additional carrycot.

Good suspension and air-filled tyres will handle rough terrain well. It's also suitable for jogging but you must wait until your baby is at least six or nine months old before doing this.

Ickle Bubba Air

This pushchair from Ickle Bubba is a brilliant option for parents looking for a lightweight buggy with enhanced features. The travel system comes with a carrycot that is flat for babies and an adjustable rear and forward facing three wheeler pushchair seat.

The XL Air is a really impressive car and it's simple to see why it has been awarded so many praises from its customers. It's extremely light - the wheels and chassis weigh just 6.5kg and it's easy to construct. In fact I was able put it up and running in just five minutes, which is amazing considering that it also included a strapping of the fabric for the carrycot!

It has a lovely wide, comfortable seat that was comfortable for Annie (who is 12 months) and the recline lever is easy to operate. The basket is spacious with plenty of space and I like that the handle bar comes with an area to keep your keys and phone secure.

The only downside is that the handlebar is quite low, which can be an issue for taller parents. It's covered in a soft, comfy leather-like material that is easy to clean.

Hauck Pushchair Runner

The Runner is designed for parents who enjoy exploring and are always on the move. The large pneumatic wheels are able to be used on field and forest trails. The front wheel is lockable and can be rotated to allow for greater versatility. It also comes with a cushioned 5-point safety harness and a front bar to ensure your child is secure on all journeys while the parking brake reliably prevents the stroller from moving when you are taking a break. The comfy seat is easy to recline to a lying position and the canopy opens to reveal with netting to ensure maximum air circulation during hot days. The handle can be adjusted by more than 30cm, to fit mum or dad.

Whether you're going for a quick jog or a longer hike, the Runner is ready to join you on your journeys with a comfortable, flat lie-flat seat and suspension air wheels that promise smooth, safe ride. The front wheel is lockable for more stability on narrow streets and crowded sidewalks and the stroller folds easily to fit in car boot spaces and storage areas.

The Runner 2 is a bit more difficult to navigate for some parents than its predecessor. Also, the locking system (requiring two buttons on either on either side of the handlebar) isn't as user-friendly. The handlebars are a bit higher than those of some competitors, and therefore may not be suitable for smaller parents. However, this stroller is sturdy and adaptable, and is worth considering by active families.

Red Kite Push Me walking

The Pace is a different great product from Red Kite, an affordable British brand which prides itself on making simple and well-designed parenting essentials. It's the newest and most expensive addition to their bargain lightweight 3 wheel pushchair stroller collection. It's also as with the Ickle Bubba Aurora and Yoyo is car seat compatible which means you can use it from the beginning (the carrycot folds away).

The new Pace has some amazing design touches such as the rose gold hue to the chassis, hood and stroller trims to make it stand out from its competition. The grey, tan and cream fabrics used in the stroller as well as the car seat are super fashionable and there's an option to add a co-ordinating leather handle for the cover and bumper bar as well.

The stroller seat is used from birth up to a maximum weight of 22kg. It converts easily into a 2-in-1 reversible position, either facing the parent or facing the world. The stroller seat has multi lie back positions, soft padded leg rest support and has an extendable sun canopy featuring hidden zip sections, a transparent flaps, and a retractable sun visor section.

When folded, the Pace measures 56 inches x 43cm and 32 inches, which is perfect for hand luggage on Easyjet and Ryanair. Two buttons on each side are easy to use and click to lock it in the right position.

Bugaboo Fox 5

Bugaboo's Fox 5 is designed to be the ultimate, all-terrain stroller. Its unique chassis has a shorter wheel distance that makes it more maneuverable than its predecessor. I tried it with my two kids - an eight-week-old and a toddler - on rocky pavements along with grassy wooded trails and even cobblestones.

The large, puncture-proof wheels - 22cm or 30cm in size they can be used on various terrains. They also come with an easy flap that opens or closes to allow more air to enter if you need it and is a nice touch. It's a bit bigger than other pushchairs, however it isn't heavy or bulky when pushing over bumpy surfaces.

The fabric for the seat can be machine washed, and the faux leather grips and frame are easy to clean. It's also a lot quieter than many pushchairs and I felt confident using it on busy city streets. A bonus feature is that it comes with accessory points, which means you can add footmuffs parasols, changing bags, and even a tray for snacks. You can also use the hood to block rain and wind, but it's not waterproof. The single pram is able to be fitted with the Comfort three wheeled buggies board (not included) which allows your child more leg room. The bassinet took 20 minutes to set-up and it took about the same amount of time to convert it into an actual seat.

UPPAbaby Ridge
