World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades increase the value of certain numeric statistics on armor, weapons and rings. They also boost extra bonuses, such as damage from PvE and crit chance.

If the weapon's upgrade template is %, it will increase 3% of its previous damage for every time it's upgraded.

The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases as the level of the item increases.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be put into armor, weapons and trinkets to provide a stat bonus or extra effect while they're in use. They can be obtained through making crafts, buying from vendors or trading with other players, or looting. Certain upgrades also come with special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be inserted into any equipment that has a slot to accommodate them; the item upgrader must be at the very least upgraded to blue level in order for the component to be inserted. Like other mods, upgrade components can only be used once and can't be used multiple times or replaced by new upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a special type of upgrade component that is designed for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment as well as the items that are not ascending back. Infusions and enrichments can be recovered by salvaging gear that is ascended or completing an elite task in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

A prefix or suffix can be added to an upgrade, thereby changing the name of the item it's applied to (for example, 'Canthan Armor Insignia,' becomes Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades can increase the Mark Level or Rarity of an item, allowing players to create stronger versions using less Upgrade crystals than they require to achieve the same level with normal methods.

A 'boost' upgrade can change the attack or defense attributes of the weapon or armor. After the player has completed the cutscene and defeated the Crazed Mechanist the upgrades can be crafted at the Portative Forging Station. They can be dropped by enemies when upgrading other gear or purchasing them from the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals each.

Each upgrade increases the likelihood that a higher tier version of an item will be available in the next reset. This gives the player an incentive to keep upgrading their gear even if they're not sure of how much they'll improve after a future reset.

The process of upgrading an item can be costly, and it is possible that the item upgrader mod will become obsolete, or even break, in the event that the upgrade is unsuccessful. Upgrade Crystals and assist powders are also destroyed when the upgrade fails. Cash shop items can be used to minimize or eliminate the risk of failure. Certain upgrades also provide a bonus if they are reinserted.

Glyphs

Glyphs are upgrade elements which can be put in special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs buff the power of all nodes in a radius around them as well as existing affixes on equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded in various ways, and we suggest getting them up to level 15 as soon as possible.

You will often find in the final game that placing Glyphs is a great way to upgrade your gear. Each Glyph has a particular range of values that it can improve a stat by. The value is shown when you choose the Glyph in your inventory. You can choose to replace it with a different Glyph of the same rank or higher rank, which will increase the overall value of the glyph.

Glyphs are available in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of an Gem Store bundle or purchase, with certain unlimited-use tools and also during Faction Crypt Raids. These recipes are available in the upgrade tab of a crafting table or purchased from some NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe completed results in a certain amount of Technology points. These points can be used to upgrade the item, and once enough are earned, the upgrade can be claimed and the additional bonuses will be added to the item.

When a player improves the equipment they have it will be replaced with the new item. The same armor can be transformed into an weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item also has its own set bonus. This could be a drawback since the item may be more expensive even if you don't require it.

If the player has enough tokens, they can reroll item upgrades. This will cause the item to be exchanged for a brand new one, with a level 1 base and a different set of extra bonuses. This can be beneficial however it shouldn't be done often as it can waste resources.

Certain upgrades can increase their value, allowing players to customize their equipment. A good example of this is Dolphin's Gift, which gives an advantage when a player is repeatedly in and out of the water (or does not swim as dolphins). Requirements

Item upgrading allows players to boost the level of their available equipment - weapons, armor, and trinkets that are above ilvl 385 by presenting the appropriate currency and items to an item upgrader NPC. Upgrades to armor set pieces also increase the base defense of that piece, while upgrading weapon equipment will increase the base damage as well as the required strength and dexterity to meet the upgraded equipment's requirements.

All items are upgradeable up to five times, except for hero equipment, which can be upgraded eight times. Each time you upgrade an object, it is at risk of failing. The rate of failure increases as you go over the maximum number. Failures will result in the item reverting to its initial state and the player having to spend additional materials than if they had stopped upgrading after the maximum number.

If an item upgrader does not upgrade, the amount of accumulated experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. The item also loses any bonuses it earned like crit chance attack damage, other effects (such as increased heal over time or reloading speed). However, the player may still continue to use the weapon or armor after the failure.

Whenever an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied in order from lowest to highest. This means that if a weapon gains a crit chance increase it will be applied prior to any attack damage increases. A new attribute called Slots has been added to the item definition and the value is computed every time an upgrade is made.

The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is based on the rarity rating and the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium equipment is equivalent to the value of the base item. For instance, a common item might have five upgrades at a cost. 25,600 Technology Points and a 4x Quality Improvement Chance--whereas hero grade items will come with the lowest cost for each upgrade.

Premium items could have different upgrade requirements from standard gear. For instance they may require fewer sowels, but more minerals and orons. The player will still need to take each piece of gear they want to upgrade to the NPC [ArmorBoboko. Boboko located in Central Flarine. In addition to the upgrade costs listed above, each upgrade will require the use of different ingredients needed to upgrade.
