Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade

The statistics of an item are enhanced by upgrading it, also referred to as "upping". Each upgrade increment gives a linear increase in a given stat.

Players can recycle up to six items at a time to gain a level gauge for each of the upgraded components. The cost of recycling items increases according to their rarity and level.

Upgrade components

In Guild Wars 2, an upgrade of an item can be a method to boost the stats of your armor and weapons. This can be accomplished by various methods, including using upgrade components as well as upgrading an item's mark levels or rarity. A lot of items can be reforged to boost their stats.

Upgradeable items can be found in the game, both within the world and as rewards for missions. They can also be created by players. Upgrade components are the primary method of upgrading equipment. These are the items that slot into equipment. Most equipment has upgrade slots, and most require a certain upgrade level. Some upgrade components offer specific bonuses, while others offer a general bonus.

Choose the item from your inventory, then open the Upgrade window. The preview will appear on the right hand side of the screen. It will display the expected stats after the upgrade. If you do not have enough of either the upgrade button will say Blocked.

The upper-right corner displays the number of upgrade components required to create the specific item. The cost of upgrading increases with the upgrade level and rarity, but it can be reduced using a variety of ways, such as purchasing upgrades from a vendor or trading them to other players.

Many weapons can be improved by a prefix such as a rune or an insignia. Some can be enhanced by adding the suffix. These upgrades include an adjective in the item's name for example "Radiant" or "Minor Vigor".

Glyphs

Glyphs are a powerful tool for communicating visual information. They move to grab the attention of the viewer and entice curiosity. The animation of glyphs mimics the body language and makes them more effective in conveying the message of a language barrier. Glyphs also create a sense of familiarity in the brain, increasing retention of the message.

Each glyph has a range of values that it could enhance a stat, as shown on the item upgrading when you open the glyph in the Glyph Storage or when you use it to enchant an Artifact. This range is not the actual amount by the glyph can increase the stat, but rather the maximum amount by which it can increase a stat. The actual value of the glyph is determined by the quality and tier of the item you are creating it for.

The majority of upgrade components installed into items cannot be removed or replaced without dismantling them except for legendary upgrades and equipment. If you have a rune or glyph you don't want to use, but it's not been applied to the gear yet, you can move the item to another piece by selecting the Upgrade Glyphs menu on the Glyphs Panel. This will create a Glyph Set that includes the chosen glyph.

You can remove the glyph using the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or an Ascended Salvage tool. This will cause the item to be destroyed in which it is installed but you will be able to salvage the upgraded item using the glyph and its shards, therefore it should not be considered as a loss.

If you take an item off after adding a glyph the shards that are part of the glyph will vanish. You can also put an inscription to your equipment to increase its value. For example the glyph Deferred Damage can store damage for the wearer and then deal it out slowly instead of all at once. This is helpful for players who suffer lots of damage from enemies but do not want to be overwhelmed.

Reroll tokens

Reroll tokens let players alter the affixes on their equipment and weapons, and they can be obtained in various ways like mistery boxes or as a rare drop from skulled creatures, or even from killing bosses. Each reroll token gives the player a new random affix that is usually superior to the one they had before. Reroll tokens can also be a good way to reroll weapon stats that can be upgraded for better damage or additional perks.

Rerolled items are not listed in the menu of upgrade options, however they can still be upgraded. These rerolled items can be recycled by pressing the "upgrade" button which alters the appearance of the window and allows up to six items to be chosen to recycle. The gauge of level is increased by recycling an item upgrading. This amount is determined by the item's rarity and also its level. Therefore, higher-leveled items are more valuable for recycling than those with lower levels.

Players can also use Reroll Tokens and Star Remnants to roll rerolling weapons to upgrade units. Rerolls roll a percentage chance of a weapon's traits. If it scores higher, the weapon is upgraded. If it is lower the weapon remains as is. Weapons can be rerolled up to three times.

Rerolls are a great option for upgrading an item, but users should be aware that it can reduce the total ilvl of the weapon by the number of rerolls required to increase it to its final ilvl. This is evident on rings and Diadems, because they are the only options to increase the ilvl.

Some players have complained that the reroll system is expensive. It's more fair to let people pay for it using money or food items, which would allow them to make changes to their builds without spending excessive amounts of time. The developers aren't planning to implement paid rerolls at this stage in the game's development. They are planning to add a potion that will allow players to alter their race in the near future.

Leveling

There are a variety of ways to boost the value of an upgrade for an item. The first is to increase the upgrade amount that increases the value of an upgrade for any stat. The second is to increase the effect of an upgrade which increases the healing or damage of a particular stat. The base item can be upgraded to a more advanced upgrade type. The new item will retain its iLevel, but be upgraded to reflect the effects of the upgraded item.

The iLevel also changes according to the upgrade path and its base level. For example, an item that is upgraded from being a rare or unique item to an outstanding one will have the chance to gain the Enhanced Defense of the new base item.
