Path of Exile Item Upgrades

The performance of a variety of Path of Exile items can be improved by upgrading them. They can also provide additional damage, AD or even affixes.

Rare-grade equipment is usually superior to the more modernized Common or Magic gear due to their higher requirements.

Armor

Armor upgrades can be applied to both armor and weapon items. They improve the effectiveness of the Item Upgrader Kit they are connected to. Upgrades to armor can be found in the world of games and are available from Blacksmiths on bonfires. Alternatively, they can also be rescued from items with upgrade components in them using an expert or greater salvage kit.

The amount of damage an armored item or weapon can absorb depends on the level of its upgrades. The damage absorption of an armor piece will increase when it is upgraded to its maximum upgrade level. The Jeweler is able to create all tiers of gems, apart from the rare and legendary ones which you must be at a certain level to get. In contrast to other upgrade components, jewels can be swapped out with another jewel of the same kind without damaging it. However it is only possible to replace the jewels in an item of equipment only once.

It is normal to use more jewels to enhance the appearance of. In addition to enhancing performance, the diamonds create a surface that is harder than metal, which means that repeated friction from pivots doesn't cause damage as easily.

Jungle players often upgrade their yellow trinket to a red one prior to the start of the game. Mid and top players on the other hand will pick a pink or green ward, depending on the game's matchup. These choices will have an impact on a hero's ability to control the map.
