For one, the Q5's navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to getting hung up on shoes and socks and can't navigate tightly packed rooms very efficiently in our tests. It's also less effective in mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on well and aren't able to take on dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle, however. And, if you need to, you can switch the mopping pad to a dry one in seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into a sleek, compact package. Its smart cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean and effective in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also has self-emptying dustbins, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, although it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensor technology that can avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time and ensure more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. It has a battery lifespan that is comparable to other models.

It is one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. iRobot's latest flagship model also is among the most intelligent and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot vacuum cleaners reviews that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's the only robot vacuum/mop that has an exemplary 10/10 in our testing due to a mix of high-tech sensors, which include a camera, structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.

Like other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, offering a simple mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device, similar to Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum, refills the water tank, and washes and drys mop pads.

The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to create floorplans and identify obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its top competitors. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards however this was not completely foolproof in our tests, and was often confused with power cords or obstructions.

Its vacuum has a high maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to complete the task. It also has a feature known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas in the house depending on how dirty the areas are.

If you own a larger home, it's worth selecting a model with a the option of cleaning zones or spots. This lets you inform the robot vacuum that mops of which area of your house needs to be cleaned by using the app or voice control. If you have lots of furniture, a stair-mode is also a good option. For families with busy schedules recharge functions and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off could be very beneficial.

It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot application is designed to guide you through the mapping process which collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, set up the perfect spot for cleaning or prioritize your most filthy rooms to ensure better performance. The app has a range of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
