Path of Exile Item Upgrading

Item upgrading allows players to improve their weapons and gear with new affixes that boost its base stats or providing additional benefits. To upgrade items, players must have the item in their inventory, and also access the kiln.

Items that have weak bases, like rings, can be upgraded into more robust bases. Items with strong bases, such as eth Titans have little change in their stats.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components are items that can be used to upgrade weapons, armor, trinkets and gathering tools, providing an attribute bonus or extra impact when the equipment is in use. They can be purchased from vendors, gathered in loot, dropped by enemies or as a reward from missions or chests. Certain upgrades also have cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require the equipment to be above a certain point before they are upgraded.

To upgrade the quality of a weapon, armor or other item in the game, the player must select it and then click on the Upgrade button on the toolbar. This will display a preview on the right side of the screen, showing what the expected upgrade stats will be as well as the component or material needed to complete the upgrade.

There are three types: universal upgrades (which include gems) Prefix upgrades and suffix upgrade item components. Universal upgrades, like gems, are able to be put on any type of equipment. They provide a smaller bonus than upgrade components that have a type restriction. Infusions are gems that are only available in legendary and ascended equipment. They provide the same bonuses as jewels, but they cannot be used with any other equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. In the case of upgrades for gathering tools when a player swaps one glyph by another, the old glyph will be returned to the inventory. However replacing any other upgrade component will destroy it, with the exception of inscribed glyphs that can be swapped.

Leveling

Path of Exile's upgrade system is different from previous versions in some important ways. Gear is now broken down into tracks, and items can only be upgraded a specific number of times before they are "leveled out." The upgrade cost increases with each level up, but the required materials do not increase as much. This allows players to concentrate their efforts on a couple of essential items and maximize their impact, rather than spreading out the upgrade costs across multiple items.

Once an item has been finished being leveled and is leveled out, it will be capable of receiving a new set of upgrade components, as well as an increase in the likelihood that the upgrade will succeed. This bonus is known as the Artisan’s Energy and it resets to 0 if the upgrade fails or increases if the upgrade succeeds.

If an item fails to reach its maximum level, the NPC offers players the option to transfer it to a different character and re-infuse the item with a different set or upgrades. The process can take as long as two hours and costs the same amount of material, though it will result in a lower chance of success.

Rerolling

Rerolling is the process of changing an item's upgrade components. It is a very important aspect of the game and can boost the damage, strength or other attributes. This can be done through the item menu or pressing the Reroll button of an upgraded item upgrader kit. Rerolling items can be costly and should be used sparingly.

Reroll tokens are derived by recycling upgraded items. These tokens can be used to upgrade the original item or a similar item. Recyclable items have a gauge that shows the level of upgrade. The rarity and cost of upgrading an item determines the amount of level filled.

In the past, some upgrade items had priority affixes that made them easier to roll for than other. It meant that you'd get the most crucial stats for your build more often than other items. This included stats such as the armor's total armour, thorns, and diminished duration due to control or the weapons' bonus attack speed and crit strike chance.

This was changed in the latest patch. Priority affixes were removed and all upgrades have the identical chance of rolling each statistic. This can be a good or a negative thing depending on your needs and expectations from your equipment.

Each upgraded item could have a unique, fixed-value bonus that increases its power by a specific percentage. These bonuses are offered in addition to the usual affixes. The more you upgrade a product, the better your chances of receiving the bonus of a different kind.

The game also includes number set that grants an extra bonus when three or four upgraded items from the set are equipped on a unit. This is a great way to add a lot of power to a particular character without spending a lot of money.

To determine if a product is worth upgrading, players can click the Upgrade button in the screen for their character. The attributes of the item will be displayed as well as any necessary items. For instance the No-mouth face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials as well as 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade.
