The Best Robot Hoover

The best automatic vacuum and mop robot hoover can vacuum and mop without needing your attention, and it will leave your floors spotless. Its affordable price and high-end functions (such as dirt detectors) are a plus.

The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've tested. They are equipped with motors that are top-of-the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other premium iRobots (including the most powerful model) they employ smart mapping to produce precise floorplans that avoid obstacles like furniture legs. The robots also feature Carpet Boost, a feature that boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.

Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our bare floor tests and are particularly effective in removing pet hair. However, they do have several flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is that its navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to getting stuck on shoes and socks, and it couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very well during our tests. It also doesn't come with an image sensor that lets it see the corners of an area.

However, it's a good choice, especially if you want to save money on a iRobot Roomba and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. Additionally, it's quiet and you can use it while you're at work, or going to school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. And it's less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on very well and can't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle, however. If you need to clean the mopping pad, it can be changed for a wet one in minutes.

2. IRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into a sleek, compact package. Its intelligent cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean, and effective in tackling larger particles such as pet hair. It also features a self-emptying dustbin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, although it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the structure of your home over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. You can alter the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones with the well-designed app. It comes with a battery life that is similar to other models.

You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when in a carpeted room to prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach under low-lying furnishings and along baseboards. It doesn't perform as well on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

In tests, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop in the market to clean the entire house with only 66 percent of its battery left. It did a great cleaning job on different flooring and rooms with different flooring types, including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was top notch and it swiftly eluded fake dog socks, turds, shoes and cables.

It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is something we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

With an elegant, circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba than the competition's boxes This mop and robot vacuum is one of the most attractive looking models in our reviews. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also its smartest. It has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's best robot cleaner that is able to wash mop pads autonomously).

It's also the only robot vacuum or mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is due to a combination high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that is fully autonomously refill and empty its base station and it boasts industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

As with other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, with an intuitive mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only issue is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This could be a problem in mornings before work, or in the evening when you're trying to fall asleep.

It's also a bit expensive but not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally capable and better looking. If you're willing to live some more volume and a little more cost it's a powerful two-in-one that will please almost everyone.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with many advanced features that will let you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device, similar to Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically emptys the automatic vacuum cleaner's bin, refills the water tank, as well as washes and dries mop pads.

The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floor plans and spot obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its competitors with premium features. It also comes with a front-mounted camera to detect hazards in real-time however, it wasn't 100% foolproof during our tests and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more advanced than the price suggests. It vacuums well and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using a single pad and a rotating motion which is cleaner than the majority of the robot mop cleaners that we've tested. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self-emptying base that is washable.

The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate an exercise in mapping that collects data on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, or to create the spot-cleaning. You can also use it to prioritize your dirtiest areas to improve performance. The app offers a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, meaning it is able to reach corners and under furniture more easily. It also has strong 8,000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for pet hair. You can also set up a spot cleaning that scours a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble cute eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, but it's more likely to be caught on low thresholds. It also has a higher noise than other top best robot hoover vacuums that we've examined. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that can't be used as an emptying bin.
