From the numismatists who first started collecting ancient coins to the modern-day specialists studying and analyzing the world's oldest currency, women have played a significant role in shaping our understanding of numismatics.

One of the earliest recorded female numismatists was Anna Elisabet Cohen, a Swedish numismatist who lived in the 18th century. Cohen was known for her extensive collection of vintage coins and her in-depth descriptions of these coins in her book, "Coin History ". Unfortunately, not much is known about her life beyond her numismatic contributions.

Many women are involved in innovative research projects, studying topics such as historic economic systems, the history of money, and the cultural significance of coins. Others are working behind the scenes as educators, sharing their passion for numismatics with a wider world.

It is time for the numismatic community to recognize and celebrate the contributions of women to the field. By doing so, we can create a more inclusive environment that encourages the participation of women and other underrepresented groups. By learning from and building upon the work of these pioneering numismatists, we can create a brighter future for numismatics and better understand the history of money and its role in human culture.
