Every few minutes, the playable area of the map begins to shrink down towards a random location, with any participant caught outside the secure space taking injury incrementally, and ultimately being eradicated if the secure zone will not be entered in time; in sport, the players see the boundary as a shimmering blue wall that contracts over time.

A plane will fly over varied elements of the playable map sometimes at random, or wherever a player uses a flare gun, and drop a loot bundle, containing items which are usually unobtainable throughout normal gameplay.

The highest three groups from each group will advance on to the Grand Finals, while groups putting 4th to eleventh will move on to the Survival Stage, and the bottom 5 groups might be eliminated.

The Last Chance stage features 16 groups competing in 12 matches, where the top 5 teams secure their spots within the Grand Finals, and the bottom 11 groups are eliminated.
