Bedside Cot Reviews

A bedside crib, also referred to as a bassinet for babies, is positioned next to your bed so you can be able to look after your infant during night feeds and nappy-changings, without having to leave your bed. These cribs are fantastic for helping to build independence for your child as they become more comfortable in their own space to sleep.

The Joie Roomie Glide

The Joie Roomie Glide is a bedside crib that lets parents co-sleep with their newborn whilst making sure they're safe. Its smooth gliding motion helps to ease your baby back to sleep. Its innovative features allow you to monitor them without leaving your own bed.

The cot's slide-away side panel raises and lowers at the touch of an button, making it easy to reach in and soothe a baby in the night. It comes with 11 height adjustments to accommodate almost any mattress size and adjustable folding feet to ensure that it's at the right height.

In terms of safety the cot is padded and has mesh sides for increased ventilation, while its mattress is made from high-density foam to provide extra protection. It is also wipeable and you can keep the cot clean. It includes a fitted bed sheet that is suitable for a crib.

The Roomie Glide, unlike some other cribs for beds, is compatible with a wide range of beds, including divans. This is thanks to the clips and straps that connect it. It can also be used as a standalone crib if it is not attached to your bed, and it's packed with amazing features designed with parent-baby bonding in mind.

It is crucial to keep in mind that this crib won't last as long after your baby turns six months. You will have to purchase a larger cot. However, overall Roanna felt that the Joie Roomie Glide was a very good purchase and she particularly liked its elegant design.

The Roomie Glide is available to purchase from John Lewis for PS160, which Roanna felt was a reasonable cost for a cot that has such advanced features. She also liked the way it was positioned in the bedroom, and believed that the grey shade would suit most modern homes. She did mention that it's not an ideal idea to rock a baby younger because it can create an unhealthy sleep pattern that can be difficult to overcome later.

The Tutti Bambini CoZee

The Tutti Bambini CoZee bedside crib that turns into cot crib is designed to give you the best sleep possible. It has a drop side rail which can be easily lowered for nighttime feeds without having to disturb your little one or get out of bed It's perfect for mothers who are breastfeeding! It is also lightweight and easy to move around during nap time or when traveling.

It's made of soft materials and features breathable mesh sides to promote airflow. It's available in oak and charcoal, with a range of melange fabrics that are compatible with all decor styles. Anna found it to be solid and secure when it was attached to her bed with the legs securely snapping into the bed and the zips secured to ensure safety for babies. It took Anna around 10 minutes to put it together and did not require any tools. There are clear instructions, a video and a customer support number in case you have any problems.

The CoZee crib is equipped with all the features you would expect from a crib to your bedside crib with wheels, including the ability to attach it to your bed using a stay-in-place connection system. It also comes with six height settings. Additionally there is an incline feature that can be used to aid babies with congestion or reflux. It can also be washed by a machine and is a must for all the spills and vomit that come with a newborn baby!

The CoZee is an excellent choice to keep your child in the first six months of learning to sleep independently. It can be used as a cot, changing station and toddler bed. It can even be converted into a sofa bed with the addition of an extension pack. It isn't able to feed your baby, or magically sleep them, it will rock them and send them off!

The Chicco Next2Me Magic

This is one of Chicco's most expensive options, but it is packed with lots of features. It can be used either a side-sleeper or a standalone crib that is suitable for babies from birth to six months. It has a new mechanism for opening and closing the side panel, and is easy to use, even for one-handed operation. It's also more flexible than its predecessor with 11 different height levels and feet that retract to installation under any bed.

Our testers loved the ease of access the side panel provides, which can be moved up and down by pressing a button. This was a huge help in feedings at night because it meant they could easily reach in and take their baby away without waking them.

The side panel can be removed on its own however it isn't recommended since it increases the risk of your child falling out of the cot. The patented safety locking system ensures that the side panel will only stay down if it is connected correctly to the mattress of the parent. This is an excellent feature to have for peace of mind, especially in the case of breastfeeding and frequent nighttime feedings.

The Chicco Next2Me Magic is designed to be compatible with any bed, including divan bases and beds with drawers, thanks to the legs that telescopic. It also has a tilting function to help babies who are refluxy and a rocking feature to bring them back to sleep after eating. It's also very spacious and provides excellent ventilation thanks to its mesh sides.

Our test subjects found the Next2Me Magic easy to set up and use, although it comes with an extensive instruction manual. It's a bit heavier than other side-sleepers but it's easily moved from one place to another. It's small enough to be able to fit in a travel bag when not in use which is an advantage when you have to transport it. The only thing our test subjects found was that the side panel didn't stretch as much as other models. This made it a bit harder to observe your baby from the bed.

The Shnuggle Air

The Shnuggle Air bedside cot wooden crib is an excellent choice for a crib that can grow with your child. It's designed to be a sleep-co-sleeping bassinet that is attached to your bed, but can also convert into a stylish cot when your baby is ready, it's perfect for night-time feeds and for strengthening your bond with your infant.

Contrary to other models of bedside cribs The Shnuggle Air is built with breathability in mind. Its dual-view mesh sides and breathable, hypo-allergenic airflow mattress increase airflow to keep your baby cool and comfortable. A gentle incline can help to ease reflux and colic and colic, while the zip-down side makes it easy to feed or comfort your baby at night.

The conversion kit for cots (sold separately) is also well-designed, with clear instructions and everything you require to start. It took us around an hour to assemble, and was reasonably straightforward. The only drawback was the lack of captions in writing on some of the pictures which made it difficult to follow certain steps. However, overall it was an easy process and the quality of materials used was excellent.

The Shnuggle Air is a great choice for women who are breastfeeding or have had an e-csection. It lets them reach out and hold their baby to comfort them and feeding without leaving their bed. It's great for parents who do not want to go through the hassle of putting their baby in a traditional cot, or getting out of it.

The gliding motion was discovered to be very helpful in lulling babies to sleep after feedings during the midday or at night. The drop-down side can be easily accessed to feed or soothe babies during the middle of the night this was a huge draw for our exhausted test mothers. The Joie Roomie Glide is a modern and stylish crib that isn't rocking, nor does it come with extra features like the sound machine.
