Fans of Charli XCX have hit out at the singer for charging £35 for black and white t-shirts branded with the logo from her new album. 

The 31-year-old, from Essex, has received critical acclaim for her sixth album brat, which has even started a whole new movement, with her lyrics inspiring Gen Z to ditch the once-fashionable 'clean girl' for grungy style and eccentric behaviour.

Charli XCX described the brat aesthetic to the BBC as: 'Trashy. Just like a pack of cigs and, like, a Bic lighter. And, like, a strappy white top. With no bra. That's, like, kind of all you need.' 

The accompanying merchandise for hongkong grand 4d the new album includes t-shirts, water bottles and keyrings - but fans are dismayed at the price of the collection which is anything but grunge.

The artist is selling simple black, white and neon green baby t-shirts simply with the word 'brat' on them for £35, while a simple green towel costs £50.

The 360 singer announced the new stock by posing on a balcony sporting a pair of simple dark denim jeans and her white cropped t-shirt with black graffiti writing of the name of her album on the garment. 

She captioned the post: 'Let's go shopping,' along with pasting the link to her shop.

But the merchandise was deemed too much money for lovers of her music, who hit out at the price she was selling her clothing at. 

One wrote: 'Real fans made their own lol,' while another said: 'Girl, your fans are unemployed.'

A third penned: 'Girl the prices are too high,' whilst a fourth joked: 'Capitalism is a knife,' based on Charli's song Sympathy is a Knife. 

Another chimed in and commented: 'Those prices are so confusing, do you think we're Swifties or something?' 

Others expressed disappointment that apparel ships at the end of summer on the 26 August.

A fan said: 'It doesn't ship until the end of August? Brat summer is a lie.' 

Brat debuted at number two on the UK Albums Chart, as well as reaching the top ten in multiple other countries, including America.

In a matter of days, Charli XCX spearheaded a new movement, with slime green flags waving in the crowds of Glastonbury declaring the start of brat girl summer.

Her hit track 365, with over 25 million streams on Spotify, encapsulates brat-like behaviours, with the lyrics reading: 'No I never go home, don't sleep, don't eat, just do it on repeat, when I'm in the club, I'm a 3-6-5 party girl'.

Online shopping platform Etsy reported a 40 per cent increase in searches for lime green home decor and furniture since the release of brat.

Meanwhile, others are showing their allegiance to brat girl summer via the viral Charli XCX TikTok dance to her hit song Apple.

Created by TikTok user Kelley Heyer last month, the simple routine quickly took the internet by storm.

Celebrities are no exception, with Daisy Edgar-Jones sharing a video of herself and co-stars Glen Powell and Anthony Ramos performing the dance to the catchy song.
