1. Engine Speed Sensor

The sensor transmits signals through the grey wire to pin T55/49. The ECU uses this information to regulate boost and fuel. It also sends an indication to the G5 tachometer in the instrument cluster.

The sensor is used to connect the G40 Camshaft position Sensor. The ecu needs to be aware of when the crankshaft has reached TDC, and the location of the camshaft so that it can activate the spark and injectors.

If this sensor fails, the ECU will display a P00160 error message. This means that the Crank Shaft is out of line with the Intake Camshaft. It could also indicate an issue with the chain or a jump in the chain link of the upper chain. However, the error code won't appear on its own without additional information from other sensors (G4 and G40).

Testing can be a bit difficult because there are two connector pins, and they perform different functions but the most effective method to test it is to measure resistance between the sensor and the ECU. If the sensor is operational, it should be reading about 1000 ohms. If you're having issues with this component, look for signs of oil or coolant in the connector bay.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, as i was accelerating off the highway paytoll at maximum speed I noticed a massive drop in power. It was like the engine had run out of gas. Or, my injectors weren't firing. I pulled out the spark plugs this morning, three were soaked in gasoline, and the fourth was dry. When i crank the engine, there are no sparks, I put a piece of tissue on top of each injector hole, the 3 drenched with gazoline pop out, but the 4th stay shut. I tried to test the ground connections of ECU pins 14,30 and 48/55. I got zero ohm. So i assume the problem is somewhere else.

I also tried to reset PID without success. The car can start when the G28 is disconnected and it runs perfectly when it is connected however it has intermittent misfire issues at higher RPM. The temperature sensor for the coolant (G62) shows the wrong temp value -49c, even if I unplug it. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bars but the actual pressure is zero.

I'm not sure what to do. I believe that I've eliminated everything else. I'm concerned that i may have missed something. Please let me know should you have any suggestions! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump in the g28 is activated by a signal sent by the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter is identical to the G4 sender and both work on the 80,100,200, UrS, and RS2 vehicles. You can easily find an extra in a wrecking shop or a parts store. It is simple to test them - simply put your DMM into resistance mode and test the distance between pins 1 and 2 (with the bump at the connector end facing up). They must be infinite Ohms.

4. ECU
