1. iRobot Roomba j7+

The Roomba j7+ is iRobot's most intelligent robot vacuum to date. You can schedule cleanings, and also create Keep Out Zones to ensure that it doesn't sweep in areas that you don't would like. It's compatible with Alexa or Google Assistant so you can start and stop it with a voice.

In our tests, we observed that the j7+ quickly took away dirt, dust, and hair from pets. If you're looking to purchase a vacuum that does more than just clean floors, your best inexpensive robot vacuum option is probably one that is a hybrid. This type of robot typically has a built-in water tank which means they can vacuum and mop your house simultaneously. They also come with various additional features like smart mapping and small object avoidance and the ability to wash and re-dry mopping pads. They're costly at retail, but they often lower prices on Black Friday or Cyber Monday.

Roborock makes some of our top robot vacuums and the Q5+ isn't an exception. This is their least expensive auto-empty model, and while it's not equipped with some of the features that are found on more expensive models (like no-go zones and multi-story memory) it's still a great choice if you're willing to compromise a bit in order to save a few hundred dollars.

The Q5+ is noticeably gentle around obstacles such as wall legs and table legs which makes it an excellent choice for homes with lots of furniture. It's also very thorough when it comes to cleaning up dust bunnies, which is an area where many cheaper robot vacuums often be a bit sloppy. The technology for navigation in the Q5+ is superb as well, with only a few missing in corners and on walls.

Like other Roborock devices as well, the Q5+ can be controlled by the buttons on the device itself or via the Roborock app. The app allows you to start and stop cleaning. You can also set up schedules, create virtual barrier and no-go areas, modify your home map or re-label rooms.

If you select the Q5+ model, it comes with a new auto-emptying dock that's designed to make the robot easier to maintain. It features a large LCD screen, which is useful for setting up schedules or adjusting settings. This isn't a necessary feature for most people, but it's one that will help you keep track of the maintenance intervals for your robot with ease.

3. Narwal Freo X Ultra

The Freo X Ultra robot vacuum and mop is a smart, well-rounded mop and vacuum. It's capable of both mopping and vacuuming. Its design and function are some of the most advanced available however it's expensive.

The base station is attractive and hides it when not in use, and its dimensions are quite small. The station's most appealing feature is the way it automatizes numerous tasks and functions that other robots leave up to you. It stores clean and dirty water, electrolyzes and heats the water (which the majority of other robots require you to do) also emptying the dustbin after vacuuming, and keeps your robot clean and charged.

Its vacuuming performance is also impressive. It's the only robot vacuum I've tried that does well at picking up debris from bare floors. And it's not as loud as the costly Roomba 900 series or iRobot 980.

However, the Freo X Ultra has its shortcomings, particularly in terms of navigation. Its laser sensors and LiDAR sensors aren't as reliable and reliable as other robovacs. This means that it can get stuck or confused in certain areas or rooms in the home.
