Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade

The stats of an item can be enhanced by upgrading it, also known as "upping". Each upgrade increment gives an increase in linearity of a given stat.

Players can recycle six items at once to gain a gauge for the upgraded component of each item. The cost of recycling items scales depending on their rarity and level.

Upgrade components

In Guild Wars 2, an upgrade of an item can be a method to increase the stats on your weapon and armor. This can be achieved through a variety of methods through the use of upgrade components or increasing the rarity of an item or its mark level. A lot of items can be reforged in order to increase their stats.

Upgradeable items are available all over the game, both around the world and as rewards for missions. They can also be made by players. The main way to upgrade equipment is by making use of upgrade components, which are the items that can be slotted into equipment. Most upgrade components inserted into items can't be repaired or replaced without dismantling the gear in question, unless it is legendary equipment and upgrades. If, however, you have an unusable rune or glyph that has not yet been added to your gear, you can move it to a different piece equipment by using the upgrade Glyphs context menu within the Glyphs panel. This will create an Glyph Set that includes the selected glyph.

If you are looking to remove the glyph from an item you must salvage it using the help of a Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. The item on which the glyph is placed will be destroyed, however the upgraded item can be recovered using the glyph shards.

The reroll system has been criticized by players for being too expensive, and it would be more fair to let people pay for it with money or a food item that would allow players to modify their build without a lot of time and effort. However the paid rerolls aren't something the developers are planning to implement at this point in the game's development. They are planning to add a potion that will allow players to alter their race in the future.

Leveling

There are a number of ways to increase the level of an item upgrade. The first is to increase the upgrade amount that increases the value of an upgrade for any stat. The second is to boost the effect of an upgrade that increases the healing or damage of a particular stat. In addition there is the possibility to upgrade the base item to a higher upgrade type. The upgraded item will keep its iLevel but be upgraded to reflect the effects of the upgraded item.
