WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade increases item level by +3. Each upgrade also boosts a random substat.

The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless it has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like the eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are not as useful for those with higher variance due to the requirement to roll a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade gear to a higher level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. The item upgrade used to upgrade the item is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be used to create the enchantments.

You can upgrade your equipment at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear up-to-date it is recommended you visit the upgrader every few weeks.

The cost of upgrades will depend on the current item level of the equipment being upgraded but they will always be cheaper than purchasing new gear from other sources. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest up to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that are used to improve the quality of weapons tools, armor, and other items. They can be bought by players through NPCs that sell upgrades to items in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be applied to any weapon, tool or armor. The button will display a preview of an item's next upgrade level, when there are enough materials.

Upgrade costs vary depending on the slot of the item and the current level of the item. For instance, weapons will cost more than gloves, bracers or bracers. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Some upgrades give a discount on the Flightstones. Once an item upgrader mod has been upgraded to a certain level and is degraded, it can be sold and returned to the upgrader for a lower amount of both currencies.

Upgraders for items can be found in a variety of locations including the main island, as well as a few outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade discount as well as a chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases as more items are upgraded. This is to allow players to upgrade their equipment to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

Another significant modification is that crests have one use therefore it's essential to use them properly. It is recommended to put your Whelpling-rank Crests on the top-quality equipment you can locate and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly relevant for rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character that will be able to avail the account-wide discount if all of the slots are filled with top-quality equipment.
