I finally felt like fixing the idling problem, so I had it serviced at Honda.

Replace anything that looked worn!

Plugs, EGR valve, throttle body cleaned

Total cost about 48,000 yen.

Also, since it had been 4 years since the last time,

I also had the air conditioning gas cleaned.

James was 7,500 yen, but Honda was 9,900 yen...

When I got the Insight back, the throttle was lighter and the idling was pretty good.

I looked it up later and found out that the frequent compressor switching on and off over the past year (making a hissing noise each time)

was probably due to insufficient air conditioning gas.

So this time, about half of the compressor had been leaking, so it seems to have been straining the engine.

It seems like it's related to the idling problem, so I'm glad I had it done this time.

Even so, Honda's mechanics won't do anything unless you tell them, so it's not really reliable.

This is the first time I've had to take such great care of my air conditioning.

Currently, the Insight has about 64,000 kilometers on it (9 years since it was first registered).
