"LA TIENDA: A long-established authentic Spanish restaurant"…

Well, I have to write about my trip to Manila, Philippines, in September 2014.
Another two weeks have passed since I wrote an overseas article.
The previous article was about cocktail time at the Regency Club Lounge.
This Hyatt also had a casino, so I probably went there both nights.
However, I don't have any photos of the casino... (partly because photography was prohibited)
The next day, I decided to go for Spanish food.
The Philippines was a Spanish colony for over 350 years, so Spanish food is famous.
The streets around the city still retain the atmosphere of that time.
And it's helpful that English is spoken everywhere in the Philippines.
It's a bit far away, so I'll have to take a taxi...
If they think I'm Japanese, I might get ripped off again. . . ←I'll never forget being ripped off in a taxi.
Basically, Filipinos are good at cheating and taking money from you.
So, don't let your heart get the better of them. (Some of them are nice)
We were both Korean
I'm Korean
I'll make sure the meter works
First, we got in the car to warn them off.
We decided to have all our conversations in the car in pseudo-Korean, with "~nida" at the end (lol) ← too easy
We're both often mistaken for Koreans, so we were nicely fooled (we're genuine Japanese).
Then the driver said in English, "Many many Koreans, we're in the Philippines."
"There's no traffic jams in Korea. It's smart, isn't it?"
"Korea is something..."
The driver talked to us about Korea with a smile. . .
I was so sorry to have deceived such a nice person. I'm sorry...
But it can't be helped. Your national character is so terrible, so I don't want to have any more unpleasant experiences.
So, the taxi arrived at the restaurant, and I said, "Komapsumnida~ (Thank you)" and stuck to my Korean identity until the very end (lol).
La Tienda is a very old restaurant (unfortunately it has closed down).
It is said to be a very popular restaurant, so delicious that even Spaniards living in the Philippines highly praise it.
*The staff member opened the door for us and waited for us...
The business lunch is also cheap, costing about 1,200 yen for three courses.
Well, when we sat down, we first said, "Metchu chuseyo (Can I have a beer please?)"
Oh, I forgot about the fake Korean (lol).
Otaka ordered some kind of dark beer that I had never seen before.
The staff poured it for us, and it was a very elegant amount.
Satorin had a slightly better San Miguel (Philippine beer)
Jamon Serrano, about 1,500 yen
It was a huge amount...
Shrimp Ajillo, about 800 yen
I thought I was allergic to shrimp at the time, so Otaka ate it alone.
It seemed really delicious☆
Otaka's second glass was a regular San Miguel
Satori had authentic sangria
Chickpeas, ham, and something with Spanish sausage
It was supposed to be Filipino home cooking, but it was mellow and had no punch at all.
Everything was quite filling, but you definitely want to eat paella
So we ordered the "La Tienda Mixed Paella" named after the restaurant, about 1,750 yen
It was so delicious!!
The portions were huge, and there were lots of ingredients
It was different from what you'd get at a Spanish restaurant in Japan...it had a lot of flavor and spice.
All the dishes were super cheap and delicious compared to the long-established Spanish restaurants in Shizuoka City!!
It was a huge meal, but I managed to finish it all
I don't remember why I went to this restaurant, but it was a good decision
That was the first time I was happy after coming to the Philippines (lol)
