Guild Wars 2 item upgrading Upgrade

Item upgrade, also called "upping," improves an item's stats. Each upgrade increment boosts the stat linearly.

Players can recycle six items at a time to gauge the upgraded component of each item. The cost of recycling items increases with their rarity and item level.

Upgrade components

An item upgrade in Guild Wars 2 is a process that can increase the power of your armor and weapons. This can be achieved in a variety of ways, including by using upgrade components or by increasing an item's rarity or mark level. Most upgrade components slotted into items can't be repaired or replaced without dismantling the gear in question, with the exception of legendary equipment and upgrades. If you have a glyph or rune you do not want to use, Item upgrader kit but it's not been applied to the gear yet, you can transfer the item to a different piece by selecting the Upgrade Glyphs menu within the Glyphs Panel.
