Path of Exile Item Upgrading

The most effective way to improve your gear in Path of Exile is through upgrading your items. This allows you to upgrade your gear without having rely on expensive trades or drops. This article will teach you how to upgrade your items effectively.

Upgrades to equipment grant an increase in the item's stats. This bonus scales depending on the rarity and strength of the upgrade item component.

Components

Upgrade components make your armour and weapons stronger. You can find them through destroying enemies, buying them from karma vendors or finding them in item-spheres. You can also salvage them from equipment that has the components or through salvage kits of high-end quality, such as Black Lion Salvage Kit and Ascended Salvage Tool. Contrary to other products, upgrade components are not destroyed when removed from an item.

The main function of upgrade components is to allow an item to be upgraded, however, they also serve other functions. They can be stacked to increase the level of an item that can be upgraded or they can be used to enhance the amount of experience gained from upgrading an existing weapon or piece of gear. They can be forged for extra bonuses. For instance, a crafted glyph will boost the chance of upgrading its target, and an upgrade boost will enhance the defense or attack property of a weapon, or armor.

You can bind an upgrade template to an item by selecting it from the edition GUI. This will show an upgrade component list that the item can be upgraded to. Alternatively, you can use the workbench to select an upgrade template. In either case the item will be upgraded once enough upgrade components are collected.

Each component has a unique experience multiplier. This determines the amount of experience an item gains when upgraded using that component. Organic components, like have a higher multiplier of experience than mechanical components. You should upgrade the organic components first, until you reach the next level in the weapon or equipment then switch to mechanical upgrades.

Each item has an upgrade limit number that it is possible to receive. The number of upgrades are determined by the upgradeable rank and the upgrade type of the upgradeable item. Sets
