Path of Exile Item Upgrading

Item upgrading allows players to upgrade their weapons and gear with new affixes, increasing its stats base or providing additional benefits. To upgrade items, players must have the item in their inventory and access the kiln.

Items that have weak bases, such as rings, can be upgraded into more robust bases. Items with strong bases, like Titans from eth, have no change in their stats.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be added to armors, weapons trinkets, weapons and gathering tools. They can be used as an attribute benefit, or extra effect, while the equipment is being used. They can be bought from vendors, found in loot from enemies, or obtained from chests and missions. Certain upgrades also have cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be above a certain level before they are upgraded.

To upgrade the quality of a weapon, armor or other item upgrade in the game, players must select it and then click the Upgrade button on the toolbar. The screen will show on the right-hand side of the screen a preview that shows the expected upgrade statistics and the necessary component or materials.

There are three kinds of universal upgrades (which include gems) Prefix upgrades and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, such as gems, are able to be put on any type of equipment. They offer a lower bonus than upgrade components that have a type limitation. Infusions are gems that can only be used in equipment that is legendary or ascended. Leveling
