World of Warcraft - Item Upgrade

Item upgrade allows players to increase the level of weapons and armor that are equippable. This boosts the stats of that equipment, and also sometimes adding buffs or rolling an affix again.

It is important to remember that upgrading common gear is not always worth the cost. Rare and unique gear will quickly outclass modernized magic and common equipment.

When a player upgrades an item, they have to spend Gold to upgrade the item. The cost of upgrading an item is dependent on its current level and the upgrade type selected. These upgrades can be used to increase the overall power of a group or a single unit, and could significantly impact the gameplay.

Any NPC that upgrades items can be located in the game. Typically, these NPCs are located in capital cities or major questing spots. Players can also find upgraders when they visit dungeons with high-level bosses, and by talking to NPCs in their faction's garrisons.

The item upgrade system in World of Warcraft provides players with the option of upgrading the levels of armor, weapons, and trinkets. This process is very similar to that of gear reforging in Mists of Pandaria and Warlords of Draenor however instead of using the appropriate currency players must visit an item upgrader NPC to complete the process.
