Path of Exile Item Upgrading

Item upgrading allows players to upgrade their weapons and gear with new affixes, boosting the base stats of the item or providing additional benefits. To upgrade items, the player must have the item upgrader mod in their inventory and access the kiln.

Typically, items that have weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a more powerful base, whereas objects with strong bases, such as Eth titans don't change significantly in their stats after being upgraded.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be incorporated into trinkets, weapons, armor and tools for gathering, offering an attribute bonus or extra impact when the equipment is used. They can be purchased from vendors, found as loot gathered by enemies or obtained from chests or missions. Some upgrades can have additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level to upgrade.

In order to upgrade a weapon or piece of armor, the user must select it, and then click the Upgrade button located in the toolbar. This will show on the right-hand side of the screen a preview of the expected upgrade statistics and the required component or materials.

There are three types of upgrade components including universal upgrades, prefix upgrades, and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, like gems, are able to be used on any kind of equipment. They offer a lesser bonus than upgrade components that have a specific type restriction. Infusions, which can only be placed in gear that is ascended and legendary equipment are exactly the same as jewels but have higher bonuses and cannot be placed in any other kind of equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They will add the suffix to the end of the names of items. For instance the addition of a Glyph will transform the staff wrapping of Minor Vigor into a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.

If the player upgrades their gathering tool and replaces glyphs with another glyph, the old one will be returned to their inventory. However replacing any other upgrade component can destroy it, Item Upgrading excluding the inscriptions that can be swapped.

Leveling

The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some important changes from previous versions. Gear is now classified into tracks and each item can be upgraded a certain number of times before it is "leveled out." The upgrade cost increases with each level up, but the required materials do not increase as much. This allows players to concentrate their efforts on a specific few items and maximize the impact of those items, instead of dispersing upgrade costs across multiple pieces.

This will enable the item to receive new upgrade components and a higher chance of success. This bonus is called the Artisan's Energy. It resets to 0 if the upgrade fails or increases when the upgrade succeeds.

When a piece of equipment is upgraded to its highest level it can be eligible to be given affixes that boost its attributes. The number of affixes that are available will depend on the item's base. For instance the rare or exclusive weapon with a normal base will only have two affixes available for it, while legendary armors can have up to eight affixes for it.

Each upgrade item requires an amount of Flightstones and crests, depending on the current level of the item and the item slot it's in. Typically, weapons will require more Flightstones to upgrade than other types of equipment.

If an item upgrades fails to reach its maximum level, the NPC gives the player the option to transfer it to a new character and re-infuse the item with a new set or upgrades. This process can take up to two hours and will cost the same amount of material however it will result in less chance of success.

Engineers use a level in order to measure the height of the building to an established location, such as a benchmark. This method is known as a "level-loop." It involves taking readings with the backsight rod and the level and then turning the level and taking the foresight rod reading. This method helps ensure that buildings are built to a high standard of safety and accuracy.

Rerolling

Rerolling refers to the process of altering an item's upgrade components. It is a crucial aspect of the game and can significantly enhance an item's strength and damage as well as other attributes. This can be done via the menu for items or by clicking the Reroll button on an upgraded item. Rerolling items can be costly and should be handled with care.

The game lets players recycle upgraded items, and use them to acquire tokens for rerolls. These tokens can be used to upgrade either the original item or another similar item. Recyclable items come with an indicator of level that indicates how much of the upgrade gauge is filled. The amount of level that has been filled is based on the rarity and cost of upgrading of the item upgrader mod.

Prior to this, Item Upgrading certain upgrades were given priority affixes that made them easier to roll. This meant that you would get the stats that mattered most to your build often than other items. These included things like the armor's total armor, thorns and duration reduction stats that are controlled or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.

This has changed since the most recent patch. Priority affixes were removed and all upgrades have the same chance of rolling each stat. This can be a great or a negative thing depending on your needs and wants from your equipment.

Each upgraded item may also have a unique fixed-value bonus that boosts its power by a specific percentage. These bonuses are offered over the standard affixes. The more you improve a product, the greater your chances of receiving an exclusive bonus.

The game also comes with various sets which grant a set bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are installed on an item. This is a good way to give an individual character more power without spending a lot of money.

Many players are known to reroll their weapons and equipment, especially in the early stages. Rerolling is a way to gain a stronger character faster, allowing you to progress in the game and achieve higher levels.

Sets

Sets are groups of elements that can be organized in different ways. They can have various sizes, contain no elements at all, or contain a single element. They can be used for organizing data or sorting information. They are also useful in analysing patterns. Sets can be classified in many ways in terms of size and shape.

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom offers an extensive selection of upgradeable set items. Some items are worth upgrading while others aren't. Upgrades are worthwhile for armor sets with high defense values and set bonuses. Weapon upgrades aren't as effective in improving stats as their purple counterparts. This makes them less appealing to upgrade if you own a lot of armor or weapons already.

Certain set items are upgraded for their unique procs which can be beneficial in certain builds. Guillaume's Face face and Aldur's Advance boots are a good example of this. Both were upgraded to Exceptional Winged Helms as well as Exceptional Mirrored Boots, respectively. This increased their defense from 217 to 321. (Strength requirements and Level requirements also increased).

Upgrades can also be made to bring certain items up to parity with the tiers. The Immortal King Set, for example, has a wide range of levels, ranging from 29 to 75. The upgrade of lower-level items in the set can boost their defense and increase their competitiveness in terms of damage.

To determine if an item is worth upgrading, players must click the Upgrade button on the screen of their character. The item's attributes will be displayed as well as any necessary items. To upgrade the No-mouth Face for example, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Players can also visit the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to check the requirements for upgrading specific items.

In general, weapons and jewelry offer better trade value when fully upgraded than armor. Upgrades to gold are recommended for weapons that have spell/weapon-damage glyphs. This will result in a significant improvement in their stats. This will also boost the defense value of armor with an updated look.
