World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading

Item upgrading allows players to increase the gear score of an item upgrade up to 700 and also add a final perk. Items can be upgraded by keeping them in inventory and heading to the kiln.

Certain items are worth upgrading due to their distinctive stats. (For example, a perfectly roll breakpoint armor is used in melee PvP). Other items like weapons don't really change after an upgrade and therefore aren't worth the effort.

Weapons

Upgrading weapons will also reroll their base stats. This is usually a positive factor, but it could also have negative effects. Upgrades can make items inaccessible, unless you're very lucky.

Upgrades can be made to armor items to improve their performance. This can increase the base defense of a chest or Item Upgrading helm as well as belts and gloves. Armor

The Snowquill Headdress, on the other hand, can be upgraded as high as +20 defense so that you can survive a raid with your friends.

It's important to note that armor cannot be upgraded in the same manner as weapons, so you'll have to concentrate on upgrading it for physical power if you're Warrior or Spell Power in the case of Mage. It is recommended to save your armor upgrades to upgrade the armor that you'll still be wearing at the end of the story, for example the Ring of Lightning, Spectral Shield or the mask you use in the final boss fight the Monter Parts Merchant Mask.
