Top Rated Robot Vacuums

A robot vacuum can keep your floors tidy enough to reduce the frequency of manual hoovering. Choose one that has good navigation, can sweep corners and stairs and also has a large dust bin that requires emptying only once in a while.

There are also models that clean and charge on their own which can be important for people with children or pets. A majority of the top performers in our tests have great obstacle avoidance.

1. IRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

The i3+ EVO and its i3 EVO sibling, the i3 EVO, are identical robots, but they differ in that the i3+ has self-emptying features. This makes the i3+ an excellent choice for people who want an entirely automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but aren't afraid of taking the time to empty their robot's trash bin when it is full.

Both robots excel at cleaning up surface debris from carpets and hard floors and they are very good in getting around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates intelligent maps of your home, which help the i3+ EVO navigate and clean in a manner that maximizes efficiency. However, unlike the i7+ or other top-rated robots that we test the i3+ does not have obstacle-avoidance capabilities which means it can be stuck on things like power cords or socks, and may have issues in navigating through transitions between surfaces, such as from hardwood to rug.

iRobot suggests cleaning up the area where the i3+ EVO vacuums before using it. This includes getting rid of any toys or other items it might come across. Also, keep the filters and dust bin free of dirt to prevent them from getting blocked. If the i3+ EVO's internal bin is full or the battery is empty it will return to its docking station and automatically empties its trash into the station's dust bin, and then continues cleaning the area where it left off. The i3+ EVO's battery can last for about an hour and a half continuous use, and takes around three hours to recharge.

2. Roomba by iRobot

The iRobot i7+ is an excellent model from iRobot's flagship line, and it comes with the latest technology. It has self-charging and self-navigating. However, the most important feature is the self-emptying bin. This removes the need for routine maintenance.

The Roomba i7+ is able to remember up to 10 best floor vacuum robot plans and their names with Imprint Smart Mapping, which lets it create maps of rooms so that it can clean them more efficiently. It also works with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and it can control your robot via the app or via voice.

In our tests the i7+ was faster and more maneuverable than our second-placed model, the eufy RoboVac G30, and it picked up large pieces of pet hair from all surfaces types including carpeting. Its greatest advantage over the Eufy is its self-emptying garbage bin which eliminates major sources of maintenance and reduces the cost of maintenance.

We were also awestruck by the i7+’s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We utilized these services to instruct the robot on how to start, stop, or pause cleaning sessions and also to move around the room and vacuum a particular area. The process of connecting the i7+ to these services was simple and straightforward through the iRobot Home app. When connected we were able to communicate with the i7+ using voice commands, such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s preferences and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is a sports car that is amidst a sea of vacuums with cords that feel like minivans and buses. It's powerful enough to replace a traditional stand-up remote vacuum cleaner in most homes, but it is also compact enough to fit on a coffee table or bookcase.

The V10 is powered by a 7-cell energy-dense lithium-ion battery that produces continuous, non-fading power for 60 minutes. The sophisticated whole-machine filter system is able to trap allergens and then releases fresh air into your home. The cleaning head is specially designed to drive stiff nylon bristles deep into carpet to suck up large crumbs and fine dust. It comes with three suction modes to meet the task that is being completed. It is able to swiftly switch between handheld and floor vacuum and vice versa.

Samsung is a well-known brand in home electronics. It's not surprising that they are also among the top manufacturers of robot vacuums and mop. Their Jet Bot AI+ is loaded with cutting-edge onboard intelligence technology to aid in navigation and obstacle avoidance.

The app offers a wide range of options to customize your robotic cleaner. This includes virtual barriers, mopping levels and behavior adjustments docking frequency settings and many more. It's easy to comprehend and is user-friendly, which is the case with other Samsung devices.

In our testing our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors, and also handled dog hair (on carpet) quite well, cleaning up 86 percent of it. However, it didn't do particularly well in avoiding taller objects like cords and socks which was disappointing.
