Path of Exile Item Upgrading

Item upgrading - clashofcryptos.trade, allows players to enhance their weapons and gear with new affixes, boosting the base stats of the item or providing additional benefits. To upgrade items, players must have the item in their inventory, and also access the kiln.

Usually objects with weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a more powerful base while items with strong bases such as eth titans aren't affected significantly in their stats after being upgraded.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be added to weapons, armors trinkets, weapons and gathering tools. They can be used as an attribute benefit, or additional effect, when the equipment is in use. They can be purchased from vendors, or found in loot, dropped by enemies, or obtained as rewards from missions or chests. Certain upgrades can also be equipped with special cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a specific level to upgrade.

To upgrade a weapon or piece of armor, the player must choose it and click on the Upgrade button on the toolbar. This will show a preview on the right side of the screen that shows what the expected upgrade stats will be, as well as the necessary component or material needed to complete the upgrade.

There are three kinds of universal upgrades (which include gems) Prefix upgrades and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, like gems, can be put on any type of equipment. They provide a smaller bonus than upgrade components that have a type limitation. Infusions are only placed in ascended gear or legendary equipment are similar to jewels but provide larger bonuses and cannot be placed in any other type of equipment. In the case of upgrades for gathering tools, if a player replaces one glyph with a different one the previous glyph will be returned to the inventory. However, replacing any other upgrade component will destroy it, excluding inscriptions which can be freely swapped.

Leveling

The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some significant changes from earlier versions. Gear is now divided into tracks and items can be upgraded a certain number of times before they are "leveled out." The cost for upgrades is increased with each level however the materials required aren't as high. This allows players to concentrate their efforts on a handful of important items to maximize their impact instead of spreading upgrade costs across multiple items.

If an item is leveled out in this way, it is capable of receiving a new set of upgrade components, as well as an increase in the probability that the upgrade will succeed.
