Top Rated Robot Vacuums

A robot vacuum is able to keep floors clean enough to reduce the frequency you'll need to manually vacuum. Pick a robot vacuum that is well-trained in navigation, can clean stairs and corners and has a large bin that will need to be cleaned out every now and then.

1. Roomba iRobot i3+ from iRobot EVO

The i3+ EVO is identical to its sibling the i3 EVO. They differ only in the fact that the i3+ comes with self-emptying capabilities. This makes the i3+ an excellent choice for people who want an automated, hands-free cleaning experience but don't mind manually emptying their robot's dustbin when it fills up.

Both robots are proficient at picking up surface dirt on floors and carpets and can maneuver around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes a smart maps of your home that assist the i3+ to navigate and clean efficiently. However, unlike the i7+ and other top rated robots we test the i3+ does not have obstacle-avoidance capabilities which means it can get stuck on things like power cords or socks, and may have issues traversing transitions across surfaces like hardwood to rug.

iRobot recommends you clear out areas where the i3+ EVO will vacuum prior to when you use it, including clearing out any clutter or toys it might encounter. It's also recommended to keep the dust bin and filter clean so they don't become clogged with dirt. When the i3+'s internal bin is filled or the battery is depleted, it returns to its docking station and automatically emptying its debris into the station's dust bin, and then continues cleaning the area where it began. The battery's life span is approximately an hour and a half of constant use. It takes three hours to charge.

2. iRobot i7+ Roomba

The iRobot i7+ is a top model from iRobot’s flagship line and is packed with the latest technology. It is self-charging and self-navigating. However, the most significant feature is its auto-emptying bin. This will eliminate the need for routine maintenance.

The Roomba i7+ can remember up to 10 floor automatic cleaning robot plans and their names using Imprint Smart Mapping, an application that lets it create maps of rooms so that it can clean them more efficiently. It also integrates with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning jobs and control your robot using voice or through the app.

In our testing the i7+ was quicker and more maneuverable than our top choice and the eufy RoboVac G30, and it picked up large pieces of pet hair from all surface kinds, including carpeting. Its main advantage over the eufy it self-empties its dust bin, which eliminates a major cause of maintenance and cuts down on recurring costs.

We were also awestruck by the i7+'s integration with best amazon vacuum Alexa and Google Assistant AI services that we used to instruct the robot to start, stop or pause its cleaning session and move around the room and sweep a specific space. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. After connecting to these services, we were able give the i7+ voice commands like "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

In a world full of cordless vacs that are like minivans and buses, this small Dyson model feels like a sports car. It's powerful enough to replace a stand-up vacuum in a majority of homes, but also small enough to fit on a coffee table or bookcase.

The V10 is powered by a 7-cell, high-energy lithium-ion battery that can provide continuous, non-fading power for 60 minutes. The advanced whole-machine filtering system is able to trap allergens and then releases cleaner air into your home. The cleaning head is specially designed to drive stiff nylon bristles deep into carpets to trap large dust and crumbs. It comes with three suction modes that can be adapted to the specific task. It is able to quickly change from floor best combo vacuum to handheld vacuum, and vice versa.

This model comes with a dock that can charge the Dyson to 100 percent in 3.5 hours. It also provides the ability to connect two attachments as well as an handheld. This is a significant improvement over older Dysons which require a long charge and are difficult to store.

The main issue with the V10 is its limited run time. Its marketing claims that it can provide up to 60 minutes of run time are not true as CR's tests have shown. It was able to remove all kinds of debris in our tests and would often go over the same area many times to give a thorough clean. Its flat front design allows it to reach the corners and the edges of walls.

Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt to stay clear of obstacles and navigate your home, but it's not equipped with the ability to map that comes with more sophisticated models like our top selections, the i3+ EVO and the j7+ series. It may get stuck on phone cords or low furniture and is often unable to supply power before returning to its base.

The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in all aspects in that it has fewer parts that need regular cleaning, is fitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, incurs lower recurring costs, comes with more advanced automation capabilities and is better at maneuvering itself. It also has a larger dustbin and can charge faster.

The eufy RoboVac X8 has a superior battery life than the Roomba 694. It also has physical boundaries and can be controlled using your smartphone's voice assistance. It's also more robust, has a more powerful motor, and is more effective on floors with bare or low-pile.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a name you see on all sorts of electronic gadgets for your home, so it comes as no surprise that they're one of the top robotic vacuum and mop makers. Their Jet Bot AI+ is equipped with cutting-edge onboard technology to aid in navigation and obstacles avoidance.

The app offers a wide range of options for customizing your robotic cleaner. These include mopping levels, virtual barriers and behavior adjustments, docking frequency settings and many more. It's simple to comprehend and user-friendly, as is the case with other Samsung devices.

In our tests during our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors. It cleaned up 86 percent of dog hair (on carpet). However, it wasn't particularly well in avoiding larger objects, like cords and socks which was a disappointment. It's also more expensive than some of the other models we tried which could be a deal-breaker for some buyers.

The app lets you alter the LED lights on the top of the vacuum so that you can discern where it is focusing or if it's stuck.

The app makes it possible to manually steer the robot in the event of need. For instance, my living room rug has a darkly colored border that tends to trip up some of the other robots I've tried. However the HRV 425BL continued to move across the border, but it didn't register it as an incline. The ability to program a weekly cleaning schedule for each week is a time-saving advantage.
