Top Robot Vacuums and Mop Combos

Robots aren't quite as adept at removing particles like metal screws or chunks of pasta. But they're amazing at sweeping dust, pet hair, and dust. The most effective models come with smart navigation technology, which helps them avoid cords, toys, and other household obstacles.

Contrary to other robovacs we've test, the i3+ EVO comes with self-emptying bins that dump debris into an external dirt compartment on its charging base when it's full. The i3+ EVO is able to prevent overfilling thanks to a self-emptying container. However, it must still be emptied manually at the end of each cleaning session. The i3+ EVO dustbin can hold 2.4L, which is enough to last four to five cleaning sessions.

Like the i7model, this model is equipped with state-of-the-art floor sensors to create maps and navigate in neat rows. However, the i3+ EVO only stores a single map while the i7 is able to store multiple maps. The i7 can also use its map to create no-go zones as well as virtual barriers, but the i3+ EVO can't.

The i3+ EVO is more effective of picking up surface debris compared to some other robovacs we've examined, but it's not the Best Amazon vacuum in cleaning corners and edges. It's also less gentle on furniture, despite being fairly quiet. It moved chairs away from walls, and made some collisions with the sides of our bed, and also became stuck on cords and toys while testing.

The only snag is that it's more raucous than the other models we test and doesn't perform similarly in our user satisfaction and predicted reliability assessments.

The Q5 Pro comes with a large dust bin that is 770ml, meaning that you won't have to empty it as frequently as other 2-in-1 robots. The Q5 Pro's 240-minute run time is also a lot when in comparison to other 2-in-1 robots we have tested. When the battery is low it returns to its dock and recharges before continuing cleaning where it stopped. You can control the Q5 Pro using the app or voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.

This is the first robot we've seen that incorporates 3D mapping. That, combined with some other innovations, makes it do exceptionally well in our vacuuming and mopping tests. You can schedule cleanings or set up no-go zones. You can also view the battery's status. The app is easy to use, however it doesn't support Apple HomeKit. It also finds its way to the base station in case it is unable to recharge its batteries during a cleaning session.

It also comes with a spot cleaning mode that lets you to mop or clean the specific part of your floor. It can also be manually programmed to follow a fixed route, which is helpful if you have narrow staircases or hallways. It did a decent job of cleaning carpets during our carpet cleaning test, but it struggled with thicker pile carpets and rugs. It can be set up to raise the mop pad when it comes in contact with carpet. This is an excellent feature for those who want to not have to mop their carpets.
