Top Rated Robot Vacuums

A robot vacuum can keep your floors clean enough to reduce the frequency of hoovering manually. Find one that has an easy navigation, can sweep corners and stairs and has a huge dust bin that needs emptying only periodically.

There are models that can mop and charge themselves, which is a feature important for families with children or pets. Many of the best robot vacuum cleaner performers in our tests have excellent obstacles to avoid.

1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

The i3+ EVO is identical to its sibling i3 EVO. They differ only in the fact that the i3+ comes with self-emptying capabilities. That makes the i3+ a good choice for people who want an automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but aren't afraid of having to empty their dust bin manually as it gets full.

Both robots are adept at picking up surface dirt on hard floors and carpets, and they can easily maneuver around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart map of your home to assist the i3+ to navigate and clean efficiently. However unlike the i7+ and other top-rated robots we test, the i3+ doesn't have a feature for avoiding obstacles and therefore it could get stuck on things such as socks or power cords and it may have trouble traversing transitions across surfaces, such as from hardwood to carpet.

iRobot recommends you clear out areas where the i3+ EVO will vacuum before you use it, and include putting away any clutter or toys it might encounter. Also, keep the dustbin and filters free of dirt to prevent them from becoming clogged. When the i3+'s internal bin is full or the battery is depleted it goes back to its docking station, automatically empties its trash into the station's external dustbin and then resumes cleaning where it began. The battery's life span is approximately an hour-and-a-half of continuous use. It takes 3 hours to charge.

2. Roomba by iRobot

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the top model of the flagship line from iRobot, and it is equipped with the most recent features. It is self-charging and self-navigating. However, the most significant feature is its auto-emptying bin. This will eliminate the need for routine maintenance.

The Roomba i7+ can keep up to 10 automatic floor cleaner plans and their names with Imprint Smart Mapping, which lets it map rooms so it can clean them more efficiently. It also works with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning jobs and control your robot vacuum cleaner price using voice or via the app.

In our testing the i7+ was quicker and more maneuverable than our top choice, the eufy RoboVac G30, and it took large pieces of pet hair from all surfaces types including carpeting. Its biggest advantage over the eufy, is its self-emptying dustbin, which eliminates a major source of maintenance and cuts down on the cost of maintenance.

We were also impressed by the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the robot on how to begin, stop, or pause cleaning sessions as well as move around the room and to vacuum a particular area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. When connected, we were able to use the i7+'s voice commands like "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options to manage i7+ settings and evaluating performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

In a world of vacuums that are cordless and look like minivans or buses, this tiny Dyson model is an old-fashioned sports car. It is powerful enough to replace a stand-up vacuum in a majority of homes, but it is also compact enough to fit on the bookcase or coffee table.

The V10 is powered by a seven-cell, energy-dense lithium-ion battery which produces fade-free power for 60 minutes. Its advanced whole-machine filter system traps allergens and releases cleaner air back into your home. The specially designed head utilizes stiff nylon bristles to drive deep into carpets and pick up large crumbs or fine dust. It comes with three suction modes to match the task being performed. It quickly switches from floor vac to handheld vacuum, and then back to floor.

This model has a dock which charges the Dyson to 100 percent in 3.5 hours. It also gives easy access to 2 attachments and the handheld. This is a huge improvement over previous Dysons that require a long charge and are difficult to store.

The V10's biggest drawback is its short run time. Its claims on the market that it has up to 60 minutes of running time are a bit misleading as CR's tests have shown. This is a typical not an extraordinary time to run the battery-powered cordless vacuum. This is still enough to clean most of an average-sized house cleaning robot but not long enough to cover every area (though a second run-through usually will suffice). That's not to say this model isn't a good choice: It's lighter and mobile than the older cordless Dysons and its vacuuming performance is noticeably better on low-pile carpet.

4. iRobot Roomba 694

One of the most well-known robot vacuums The 694 is a basic model that's a great choice for people who don't want to invest too much on a robotic vacuum cleaner commercial. It's capable of sucking up most types of debris and sizes during our tests, and often goes over the same areas many times to give a thorough clean. Its flat front makes it possible to reach corners and the edges of walls.

Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt technology to avoid obstacles and guide you through your home. It's not equipped with the capabilities for mapping of more advanced models, like our top picks, i3+EVO and the j7+ Series. As a result, it is sometimes stuck on things like phone cords and furniture that isn't in good condition, and often is power-depleted before making it back to its original location.

The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways over the Roomba 694 because it has fewer parts that require regular cleaning, comes with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtering system, incurs lower costs for recurring expenses and has more advanced automation abilities and is better able to maneuver itself. It also has a larger dustbin and can charge faster.

The eufy RoboVac X8 has a superior battery life than the Roomba. It also comes with physical boundaries strips and can be controlled using your smartphone's voice assistant. It's also more durable, has a stronger motor, and can perform better on low-pile and bare floors.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a household name in home electronics. It's no surprise, then, smart vacuum that they are also among the top manufacturers of robot vacuums and Smart Vacuum mop. Jet Bot AI+ has an advanced onboard technology that allows for navigation and obstacle avoidance.

The app offers a variety of options to personalize your robotic cleaner, including virtual barriers, mopping water levels and behavior customization, docking frequency settings, and more. It's simple to comprehend and is user-friendly, which is the case with other Samsung devices.

In our tests in our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors, and it removed 86% of dog hair (on carpet). It was not as successful in avoiding taller items like socks or cords. This was disappointing. It's also more expensive than some of the other models we tested, which might be a deal-breaker for some shoppers.
