WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades can give you boosts in specific stats. Each upgrade increases the item level by +3. A random additional substat is also added to every upgrade.

The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless it has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like the eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are less important for those with higher variance due to the need to roll the perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader enables players to upgrade gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any kind of armor or weapons. The item used to upgrade the item is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be used to create enchantments.

You can upgrade your equipment at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear up-to-date it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each few weeks.

It's also crucial to choose crests wisely, as they have only one purpose. For instance it's a good idea use all of your Whelpling-rank crests with the Best item upgrade gear you have available, and then save Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you plan to create. This is especially relevant for items like trinkets and rings that take up several slots. The discount for the entire account will only be applicable if all slots on the character are filled with top-quality equipment.
