Top Rated Robot Vacuums

A robot vacuum can keep floors clean enough to decrease the frequency at which you have to manually vacuum. Find one that has good navigation, can clean corners and stairs and has a huge dust bin that has to be emptied only once in a while.

There are models that clean and charge themselves, a feature that may be important for people with pets or children. A lot of the top performers in our tests also have good obstacle avoidance.

1. Roomba iRobot i3+ from iRobot EVO

The i3+ EVO is identical to its sibling, the i3 EVO. They differ only in that the i3+ comes with self-emptying capabilities. That makes the i3+ a good choice for people who want an entirely automated, hands-free cleaning experience but don't mind manually emptying their robot's dustbin when it fills up.

Both robots do well picking up surface debris on carpets and hard floors, and they're very adept at moving around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart maps of your home to assist the i3+ to navigate and clean up efficiently. However, unlike the i7+ or other Top Rated Robot Vacuum-rated robots we test, the i3+ doesn't have obstacle-avoidance capabilities which means it can get stuck on things like socks or power cords, and may have issues navigating across surface transitions like from hardwood to carpet.

iRobot recommends that you tidy up the area where the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes getting rid of any toys or other items it may encounter. It's also a good idea to keep the dust bin and filter clean so they do not become blocked by dirt. When the i3+'s internal bin is filled or the battery is depleted it will return to its docking station and automatically emptying its dirt into the station's external dustbin and continues cleaning the area where it started. The i3+ EVO's battery lasts for approximately an hour and a half of continuous use, and takes about three hours to recharge.

2. iRobot i7+ Roomba

The iRobot i7+ is a top model from iRobot’s flagship line and comes with the latest features. It's self-charging and self-navigating. -- the most important feature of all -- it has a self-emptying dustbin that eliminates one of the main sources of maintenance for any best affordable robot vacuum vacuum.

The Roomba i7+ can remember up to 10 floor plans and their names thanks to Imprint Smart Mapping, an application that allows it to identify rooms to clean them more efficiently. It also works with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning jobs and direct your robot by voice or via the app.

The i7+ is quicker and more agile in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also picked up large pet hair pieces from all surfaces including carpeting. Its main advantage over the eufy, though it self-empties its dust bin which removes a major source of maintenance and lowers the amount of time spent cleaning.

We were also impressed with the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the robot on how to start, stop, or pause cleaning sessions and also to move around the room cleaning robot and to remote control vacuum cleaner a particular area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. When connected we were able to give the i7+ voice commands such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is a sports car in a sea of cordless vacuums that feel like minivans and buses. It is powerful enough to replace a traditional stand-up vacuum in most homes, but it is also compact enough to fit on a coffee table or bookcase.

The V10 is powered by a seven-cell, energy-dense lithium-ion battery which produces fade-free power for 60 minutes. The sophisticated whole-machine filter system captures allergens, and then lets cleaner air into your home. Its specialized cleaning head drives stiff nylon bristles deep into carpet to suck up large particles and fine dust. It comes with three suction modes to match the task at hand. It swiftly switches from handheld vacuum to floor top Rated robot vacuum vacuum and back again.

This model comes with an attached dock that charges the Dyson to 100 percent in 3.5 hours. It also provides an easy access to two attachments as well as the Wand. This is a significant improvement over older Dysons that require a long charge and are difficult to store.

The main drawback of the V10 is its limited running time. Its claims on the market that it can provide up to 60 minutes of run time are not true as CR's tests show. This is an average, not an exceptional, time for an electric cordless vacuum powered by batteries. However, this model doesn't have its benefits It's lighter and more mobile than the older cordless Dysons and its vacuuming performance is significantly superior on carpets with a low pile.

4. iRobot Roomba 694"

The 694 is a standard robot vacuum that's a great choice for those who don't have lots of money to invest in an expensive robot. It's capable of sucking up most debris types and sizes during our testing, and it often goes over the same areas several times to ensure a thorough clean. Its flat front end helps to get into corners and along the edges of walls, which is a nice touch.

Its intelligent navigation system makes use of iAdapt to stay clear of obstacles and navigate your home, but it lacks the mapping capability of more advanced models like our top selections such as the i3+ EVO and the j7+ series. It can get stuck on cords for phones or furniture that is low and will often run out of power before returning to its base.

The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in many ways in that it has fewer parts that require regular cleaning, is fitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, incurs lower costs for recurring maintenance, has more advanced automation capabilities and is more efficient in moving itself. It also has a larger dustbin and is charged faster.

The eufy RoboVac X8 has a superior battery life than the Roomba 694. It also comes with physical boundaries strips that can be controlled using the voice assistant on your smartphone. It is also more robust, has a larger motor, and is more effective on low-pile and bare floors.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a name that you see on all sorts of home electronics It's no surprise that they're also one of the most reputable robot vacuum and mop manufacturers. Jet Bot AI+ has a cutting-edge onboard technology for navigation and obstacle avoidance.

The app offers a variety of options to customize your robotic cleaner, including virtual barriers mopping water levels, behavior adjustments docking frequency settings and more. The app is simple to learn and use similar to other Samsung devices.

In our testing, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors, and also handled dog hair (on carpet) quite well, cleaning up 86% of it. It didn't do very well in avoiding taller items such as cords or socks. This was disappointing. It's also a bit more expensive than some of the other models we've tested, which might be a deal-breaker for some buyers.

The smart vacuum comes with an onboard camera that you can access via the app. You can also set up a live stream from the robot's cleaning station. This feature allows you to keep track of your pets or children when you're away from home. The filter and the dustbin can be cleaned to ensure an easy, quick clean-up. The Jet Bot AI+ also comes with a clean and tidy station that self-empties and helps keep the robot's dustbin clear and optimizes suction power for each cleaning run.

6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum

Black and Decker robots have been developed specifically for hard flooring. They feature an extra-wide cleaning path and an extra-large dustbin that holds 2X more debris than other models to keep the area free of debris for the longest period of time. Plus, they include two side sweepers to clean along edges and in corners. The POWERSERIES model also comes with AutoSense which adjusts the power level depending on whether it's collecting surface dirt or embedded dirt. It also comes with a smart app that lets you browse the virtual map and manage the functions and schedules. Plus, you can monitor the battery's status and send it back to its dock to charge at the touch of a button. The app also lets you to customize the LED lights on the top of the vacuum using different colors so you can clearly see what areas it's focusing on or where it's stuck.

The application also allows you to manually steer the best robot vacuum for tile floors should you need to.
