Path of Exile Item Upgrading

The ability to upgrade items allows players to upgrade their weapons and gear with new affixes, increasing the base stats of the item or providing additional benefits. To upgrade an item, the player needs to have it in their inventory and have access to the kiln.

Typically objects with weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a stronger base while objects with strong bases, such as Eth titans don't change much in their stats after being upgraded.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components are items that can be incorporated into weapons, armor, trinkets and gathering tools, giving an added bonus or impact when the equipment is being used. They can be bought from vendors, gathered in loot, thrown away by enemies or received as a reward for missions or chests. Certain upgrades also have cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level to upgrade item.

To upgrade the quality of a weapon, armor or other item in the game, the player must select it and then click on the Upgrade button on the toolbar. This will show on the right-hand side of the screen a preview that shows the expected upgrade statistics and the required component or materials.

There are three types of upgrade components that are universal upgrades, prefix upgrades, and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, like gems, are able to be placed on any type of equipment. They offer a lower bonus than upgrade components that are subject to a type restriction. Infusions are gems that can only be used in legendary and ascended equipment. They provide the same bonuses as jewels, but cannot be used in other equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They add a suffix at the end of the names of items. For example adding a Glyph would make a staff wrapping of Minor Vigor a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.

In the case of upgrades to gather tools, if a player replaces one glyph with another, the old glyph will be returned to the inventory. If you replace any other upgrade component with a glyph, it will be destroyed, with the exception for the inscriptions that can be swapped freely.

Leveling

The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some important changes from the previous versions. Gear is now categorized in tracks, and each item can be upgraded as many times before it's "leveled out." The cost of upgrading increases with each level, however the materials required for upgrades do not. This allows players to concentrate their efforts on a few important items to maximize their impact, instead of spreading upgrade costs across several items.

If an item upgrade is leveled out in this way, it is eligible for an upgrade set of components, as well as a boost in the chance that the upgrade will succeed. This bonus is known as Artisan’s Energy and it resets at 0 if the upgrade fails or increases if the upgrade succeeds.

Once a piece of gear is upgraded to its highest level it can be eligible to be given affixes that boost its attributes. The number of affixes available will depend on the item's type. For instance an uncommon or unique weapon with a standard base will only have two affixes, while a legend armor will have eight affixes.

Each upgrade will require an amount of Flightstones and crests to complete based on the item's current level and the item slot it's in. In general, weapons will require more Flightstones to upgrade than other types of equipment.

If an item upgrader mod is not able to attain its maximum level, the NPC will give players the option to transfer it to a different character and re-infuse it with another set of upgrades. The process can take as long as two hours and will cost the same amount of material however it will result in less chance of success.

To determine the height of a building engineers utilize an instrument to compare the measurement to an established reference point, like a benchmark or the ground's elevation. This method is known as a "level loop." It involves taking readings using the level and backsight rod and then turning the level and making the foresight rod reading. This method ensures that buildings are built to a high standard of accuracy and safety.

Rerolling

Rerolling is the process of changing the upgrade components of an item. It is a crucial aspect of the game, and it can increase the strength, damage or other attributes. You can do this through the item menu, or by pressing the Reroll button when you upgrade an item. Rerolling items can be expensive and should be done sparingly.

Reroll tokens are earned by recycling upgraded items. These tokens are then used to upgrade the original item upgrader mod, or to upgrade another similar item upgrader mod. Recyclable items come with an indicator of level that indicates how much of the upgrade gauge is filled. The amount of level that has been filled is based on the rarity and the upgrade cost of the item.

Prior to this, certain upgrade items were given priority affixes which made them more accessible for players to roll. It meant that you'd get the most crucial stats to your build more frequently than others. This included stats like armor's total armour, thorns and diminished duration due to control or the weapons' bonus attack speed and crit strike chance.

This was changed in the latest patch. Priority affixes have been removed and all upgrades will have the same chances of rolling for all stats. This can be a good or a negative thing dependent on your needs and expectations from your equipment.

Each upgraded item can also come with a bonus that boosts the power of the item by a specific percentage or a flat amount. These bonuses are added to the normal affixes. The more you upgrade a product, the better your chance of obtaining a unique bonus.

The game also comes with number sets that give an extra bonus when three or four upgraded items from the set are equipped on an item. This is a good way to give an individual character more power without spending a lot of money.

Many players have the habit of rerolling their weapons and gear particularly in the initial stages. This is because rerolling can provide a much faster route to becoming a strong character, allowing them to reach higher levels and progress in the game faster.

Sets

Sets are groups of elements that can be arranged in a variety of ways. They could be of various dimensions, have no elements, or only contain a single element. They can be used to organize data or separating information. They are also useful in analysing patterns. Sets can be classified in various ways, including size and shape.

There are many set items that can be upgraded in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Some are worth upgrading, while some are not. Upgrades are worth it for armor Upgrade Item sets that offer high defense and set bonuses. Weapon upgrades are not as effective in improving stats as their counterparts in purple. This makes them less attractive to upgrade in the event that your collection of weapons and armor pieces is already large.

Set items can be upgraded to include unique tools that are suitable for certain builds. This is evident in Aldur's Advance Boots and Guillaume's Face. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, increasing their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement was increased as well).

Upgrades can also be done to bring certain items up to parity with the levels. For instance the Immortal King set has a wide range of levels, ranging from 29 to 76. Upgrades to lower-level items of the set can boost their defense and make them more competitive in terms of damage.

Clicking the Upgrade button will show the attributes of the item and the items required to upgrade it. This will display the item's features, as well as the required items to upgrade it. For instance the No-mouth face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials and upgrade Item 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade. Alternatively, players can go to the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to find out the upgrade requirements for specific items.

In general, weapons and armor are more valuable when they are updated. Especially for weapons that have spell/weapon damage glyphs and are upgraded to gold is recommended since it will provide a significant improvement in their stats. It will also boost the defense value of armor with an updated look.
