Both robots are proficient at picking up surface dirt on floors and carpets and are able to maneuver around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart maps of your home, which help the i3+ EVO to navigate and clean in a manner that maximizes efficiency. The i3+ doesn't have the same obstacle avoidance capabilities as the i7+ or other top-highest rated robot vacuum robots that we test. It could be stuck on power cords or socks and have difficulty navigating between surfaces, such as carpet and hardwood.

iRobot recommends you clear out areas where the i3+ EVO will vacuum before you use it, and include clearing out any clutter or toys it may come across. It is also recommended to keep the dustbin and filter free of dirt to prevent them from getting blocked. If the i3+ EVO's internal bin is filled or the battery is empty, it returns to its docking station, automatically emptying its dirt into the station's dust bin and then resumes cleaning the area where it started. The i3+ EVO's batteries last for about an hour and a half of continuous use, and it takes around three hours to fully recharge.

2. iRobot Roomba i7+

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the top model in the iRobot flagship line, and it comes with all the latest features. It has self-charging and self-navigating. But the most important feature is its self-emptying bin. This eliminates the need for regular maintenance.

The Roomba i7+ can remember up to 10 automatic floor cleaners plans and their names using Imprint Smart Mapping, a system that lets it identify rooms to clean them more efficiently. It also works with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and it can direct your robot using the app or via voice.

The i7+ is quicker and more maneuverable in our tests compared to the eufy best robovac G30. It also picked up large pet hair pieces from any surface, including carpeting. The biggest advantage over the Eufy is its self-emptying bin that removes major maintenance sources and reduces recurring cost.

We were also amazed by the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services, which we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning routines, move itself around the room and sweep an area. The process of connecting the i7+ to these services was simple and easy with the iRobot Home app. We were able, once connected, to voice commands to the i7+, for example "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is a sports car that is amidst a sea of vacuums with cords that feel like minivans and buses. It has the power and features to replace a stand-up vacuum for most households however, it can also fit nicely on the coffee table or a bookshelf where you can move it around like an enchanted wand.

The V10 is powered by a seven-cell, energy-dense lithium-ion battery which produces fade-free power for 60 minutes. Its advanced whole-machine filter system captures allergens and expels cleaner air back into your home. The specially designed head utilizes stiff nylon bristles to penetrate into carpets and collect large crumbs or fine dust. It has three suction modes to match the task that is being completed. It is able to swiftly switch from automatic floor cleaning machine vacuum to handheld vacuum, and vice versa.

It was able to remove all kinds of debris in our tests, and frequently went over the same area many times to give an extensive clean. Its flat front design allows it to reach the corners and the edges of walls.

Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt to stay clear of obstacles and navigate your home, but it lacks the mapping capabilities of more sophisticated models such as our top picks, the i3+ EVO and the j7+ series. It may get stuck on phone cords or furniture and often runs out of power before returning to its base.

The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways to the Roomba 694 in that it has less parts that require regular cleaning, is equipped with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtration system, incurs lower costs for recurring expenses and is more sophisticated in its automation capabilities and is better able to navigate its own.
