For one, the Q5's navigation doesn't have AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to become entangled in shoes and socks and can't navigate rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera to look around corners.

However, it's a good choice to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on an Roomba from iRobot, and you have a bare-floored home or office. It's also very quiet and you can use it while you're at work or school. The only thing it doesn't have that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. And it's less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on for long and don't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle however. And, if you have to change the mopping pad to dry ones in just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a sleek, compact package. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it quick to clean and effective at dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also has a self-emptying bin, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best automatic vacuum robot hoover for carpets, but it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.

This high-performing mop and autonomous vacuum combination makes use of advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste, and it learns your home's layout over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. 3. IRobot Roomba X40

This robot vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular look that looks much like a Roomba model than the bulky units of the competitors. It is one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. The newest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored 100% in our testing due to a mix of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured lighting system, and multiple lasers. Similar to Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes charge of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multi-function dock that automatically empties the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank and washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of a combination of LIDAR and structured light to draw out floor plans and identify obstacles, making it more efficient than its top rivals. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards however, it wasn't foolproof in our testing and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.

It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self-emptying base that is washable.

The well-designed iRobot app guides you through an initial mapping session that collects data about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, or to organize the spot-cleaning. You can also use it to rank your most filthy areas for greater efficiency. The app also grants access to many options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, meaning it can reach corners and underneath furniture better. It also has strong 8000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for pet hair. You can also create a spot-cleaner that thoroughly cleans a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and more affordable alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums that we've examined. It also comes with an app that's less intuitive and has a tiny base station that can't double as a bin for emptying.
