Path of Exile Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a common and important way to improve the performance of numerous items in Path of Exile. They can be a great source of extra damage, more AD or even more attaches.

In most cases, however upgraded Common and Magic gear is often surpassed by Rare-grade gear due to their requirements.

Armor

Armor upgrades can be applied to both weapon and armor items. They boost the performance of the item upgrading they're attached to. Upgrades to armor are available in the game's world and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at any bonfire. Additionally, they can be salvaged from items that have upgrade components inside them, using an expert or greater salvage kit.

The amount of damage that an armored item upgrader or weapon will absorb is contingent on the extent of its upgrades. The ability to absorb damage of a piece armor will increase when it's upgraded to the maximum upgrade level. It is important to note that this will increase the weight of the armor, therefore it should be heavier.

There are a few different kinds of armor upgrades that are that are available in the game and they all have different effects. For instance, some upgrades will give the armor a certain amount of additional health points, while others will make it lighter and stronger. The kind of armor upgrade an item can receive is indicated by the name of the upgrade as illustrated in the table below.

Certain upgrades require magic or a hybrid technology and magic, which are identified by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table. Furthermore, some upgrades require a fee to use, and are identified by an "Charges" entry in the table below. The charges for these upgrades are updated daily or never expire according to the upgrade.

Weapons

Jewels

All levels of jewels can be crafted at the Jeweler, with the exception of the rare and legendary jewels that require you to be at a sufficient level to be able to get them. In contrast to other upgrade components, jewels can be swapped out with a jewel of the same type without damaging the original one. You can only replace the jewel only once in a piece of equipment.

It is typical to use more jewels to enhance the appearance of. Jewels also enhance performance and create a surface harder than metal so that repeated friction from pivots do not cause damage to the movement.

The first trinket players will be able to unlock is the cloak. It gives a small but valuable boost in speed of movement and the ability to escape. The player will then be able to acquire necklaces, rings, and amulets in a similar fashion as they did with weapons and armor. Every piece of equipment has a slot for an upgrade which can be universal or jewel. Universal upgrades provide smaller bonuses and can be put into any type of equipment while jewelry cannot be replaced or upgraded and is only compatible with certain kinds of trinkets.

These trinkets grant additional buffs and abilities that are active when the hero isn't fighting. This allows the hero to be more effective when not active, and can also help to compensate for the absence of a solid team or the absence of any talent tree slots which would normally be filled with the hero's best stats.

As a rule, trinket upgrades should prioritize BiS (Best in Slot) items that you will not replace soon. Next, any items with desirable statistics that are less significant than the iLevel of the item upgrader to be upgraded. This is true especially if you're looking to upgrade several stats on an item upgrader mod. It's best to upgrade just one crucial stat rather than two suboptimal ones.
