Robot vacuums and mops are becoming more adept, passing our tests for cleaning and taking on various floor types. Find models that allow you to select from a variety of modes, and use their charging dock to self-empty, and clean up the stairs.

Many of the top models integrate with your smartphone. Look for an app that lets you save maps, schedules and select cleaning modes.

1. Eufy Omni S1 Pro

The gunmetal and gloss black Omni S1 Pro from Eufy is one of most impressive mop and robot vacuum combos available. It uses lidar to navigate and create maps of floors and rooms (even multiple levels) and is compatible with the free Eufy Clean application that lets you set schedules and customize the S1's behaviour.

When I tried the S1, it was able to locate our downstairs, which is home to Linoleum flooring in the kitchen/dining room and bathrooms, as well as medium-pile carpeting and a large area rug. It was capable of driving close to walls and even cross raised thresholds without any problems. However it had some issues getting down the stairs in one step. The S1 performed admirably in cleaning hard floors. Its mop drove smoothly on its flat side and raised itself when it came to carpets or rug.

Prior to each mopping session the docking station on the S1 automatically empties its dustbin and refills its water tank with filtered, clean water ozonated. The dock also adds a cleaning solution to the water for deep cleaning. The S1's water tank can hold enough for about twelve cleaning sessions before needing to be empty, but this can vary based on how often you use the mop.

Like all 2-in-1 robots the S1 requires regular maintenance to ensure it is operating well. For this, you'll need to wash the water tank that is dirty regularly to avoid it from clogging. Also, you'll need to clean the swivel wheel and sensors frequently to avoid them from getting blocked by dirt or dust. Overall, the S1 requires less maintenance than other combos.

2. Ecovacs Deebot X2 Combo Complete

Ecovacs' all-in-one robot vacuum and mop is a powerful solution for your cleaning requirements. The robot vacuum is rated at 8700Pa of suction and comes with numerous innovative features, including full home mapping, voice control, and smart path-planning that avoids obstacles and cleans furniture. The mopping capabilities of the robot are impressive. Rotating mop heads actually lift the floor and scrub it instead of simply drag a pad across a surface. Its navigation capabilities are pretty good, too, even though it does sometimes get hung up on the tiny carpets or area mats that I have in my house (which is something you can mitigate by defining a virtual boundary within the app). Mopping capabilities are excellent, with a pair spinning mop pads that can lift and scrub the floor instead of simply moving the pad across it. The mops are also cleaned with heated water and dried in the base station as required. The mops can also be filled at the top of the station as required.

3. Dreame X40 ultra

Dreame's X30 Ultra robot vacuum and mop was launched earlier this year. But their new flagship model has even more impressive features. It has outstanding cleaning performance and hands-off maintenance making it a top contender for our best robot vacuum that mops robot vacuum and mop list. Its superior mapping capabilities, RGB AI smart recognition, and an extended side brush will give you a thorough, custom-designed clean.

The X40 Ultra vacuums well, it can remove both large and fine debris. It works equally well on hard floors and carpets.
