How to Replace Door Handles

The door handles in your home are an important element of your decor. A new handle can elevate your space and bring your decor up-to-date.

Over time the knobs on your door could become stiff or even break. These are signs that it's time to replace the knobs. This guide will help you select the right replacement door handles door handle for your home.

Door Knobs

The handles on your doors can enhance the look of your home and allow you to shut and open them. They are available in a variety of finishes, colors and types to match your decor. Latch

This is often due to incorrectly aligned parts in the latching mechanism, such as an unbalanced strike plate that is too short or moved upwards or downwards on the doorjamb over time. This project lets you replace your old strikeplate with an extended one, which will provide better security for your door and keep it shut.

To determine if the issue is caused by the strike plate, apply lipstick or similar marking material on the bolt that is used to latch. Close the door and try to latch it. If the mark is lower than the strike plate's hole, it means that the plate is too small and the door will not latch. You might be able to screw the new strikeplate into place over the existing one by using the screws supplied with it, based on your door.
