World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades boost the value of certain numeric statistics on armor, weapons and rings. Upgrades also increase bonuses such as crit chance and PvE Damage.

For example a weapon that has the upgrade template that is ending in % will gain 3% attack damage every time it upgrades (relative to its previous value).

The cost of upgrading an item increases as it reaches the item's current level. The cost increases as the item's level rises.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be put into armor, weapons, and trinkets in order to provide an extra stat boost or effect while they're in use. They can be acquired through crafting, Item upgrades buying from vendors trading or looting. Certain upgrades have unique cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components are only available to devices that have slots. The item must be upgraded to blue level before a component can be used. Like other mods, upgrade components can only be used once and can't be used multiple times or replaced with new upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a special type of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet ascended or legendary equipment as well as the non-ascended back items. Infusions and enrichments can be recovered by salvaging ascended gear or by completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

An upgrade may include a suffix or item upgrades prefix that alters the name of the equipment to which it is applied (for example "Canthan Armor Insignia' becomes Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades boost the Mark Level or Rarity, which allows players to create stronger versions of the equipment that require fewer Upgrade Crystals than are required to reach the same upgrade level through normal methods.

A boost upgrade can modify the attack or defense attributes of a weapon or armor. Glyphs

Glyphs can be used to upgrade the Paragon Board by placing them in sockets with special functions.
