Path of Exile Item Upgrading

Item upgrading allows players to improve their weapons and gear by adding new affixes, boosting the base stats of the item or adding additional perks. To upgrade items, the player must have the item upgrades in their inventory and have access to the kiln.

Typically items with weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a more powerful base while items with strong bases such as eth titans do not vary in their stats following being upgraded.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components are items that can be slotted into weapons, armor, trinkets and gathering tools, giving an attribute bonus or extra impact when the equipment is in use. They can be bought from vendors, retrieved in loot from enemies, or received from missions and chests. Certain upgrades can also be equipped with special cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require the equipment to be at a certain level before they can be upgraded.

To upgrade the quality of a weapon, armor or other item in the game, the player will need to select it and click the Upgrade button on the toolbar. This will show a preview on the right side of the screen, showing what the expected upgrade stats will be, as well as the necessary component or material needed to make that happen.

There are three kinds of upgrade components that are universal upgrades, prefix upgrades, and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, which comprise gems, are able to be used in any type of equipment, and offer lower bonuses than upgrade components that are type-restricted. Infusions are jewels that are only available in legendary and ascended equipment. They provide the same bonuses as jewels, however they cannot be used with any other equipment. Suffix upgrades are able to be placed in gathering tools, add their name to the end of the name of the item they are connected to, for example adding a Glyph to the Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor would change it to a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.

In the instance of upgrades for gathering tools, if a player replaces one glyph with a different one the previous glyph will be returned to the inventory. If you replace another upgrade component the item will be destroyed, with the exception for the inscriptions, which can be swapped freely.

Leveling

The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some important differences from the previous versions. Gear is now broken down into tracks, and items can only be upgraded a set number of times before they are "leveled out." The cost of upgrading increases with each level, but the materials needed do not. This allows players to focus their efforts on a handful of essential items and maximize their impact instead of spreading upgrade costs across multiple pieces.

This allows the item upgrader mod to receive new upgrade components and a greater chance of success. This bonus is known as the Artisan’s Energy and it resets at 0 if the upgrade fails, or increases if the upgrade succeeds.

Once a piece is upgraded to its maximum level it is able to receive affixes that will boost its attributes. The amount of affixes available will depend on the Best item upgrader's kind. For instance the rare or exclusive weapon with a base that is normal will have only two affixes for it, whereas legendary armors can have up to eight affixes available for it.

Each upgrade requires a specific number of Flightstones or Crests, depending on the type of item at its current level and in what slot it is located in. Weapons usually require more Flightstones than other equipment.

If an item doesn't reach its maximum level, the NPC offers players the option to transfer it to a different character and re-infuse the item with a new set or upgrades. This procedure can take as long as two hours and cost the same amount of material. However, it has a lower chance of success.

Engineers will utilize a level to compare the height of the building against an established point, like a benchmark. This process is known as a "level-loop." It involves taking readings using the level and backsight rod before turning the level to make the foresight rod reading. This method makes sure that buildings are built to a high level of accuracy and safety.

Rerolling

Rerolling is the process of altering the upgrade components of an item. It is an essential aspect of the game and can increase the strength, damage, or other attributes. You can do this through the item menu or by pressing the Reroll button when you upgrade an item. Rerolling an item can be costly and should be used sparingly.

The game lets players recycle upgraded items, and use them to earn tokens for rerolls. These tokens can be used to upgrade the original item or another similar item. Recyclable items come with a level gauge that shows how much of the upgrade gauge is filled. The rarity and cost of upgrading an item will determine the amount of level filled.

In the past, certain upgrade items were affixed with priority that made them easier to roll for than others. This meant that you'd receive the stats most important to your build more often than other items. This included things like the armor's total armor, thorns and duration reduction statistics that were controlled or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.

This has changed since the most recent patch. Priority affixes are no longer required and all upgrades will have the same chances of rolling for each stat. This could be good or bad, depending on what you're looking to get from your equipment.

Each upgraded item may also be equipped with a special, fixed-value bonus that increases its power by a specific percentage. These bonuses are added into the usual affixes. The more you improve an item, the better the chance of receiving the bonus of your choice.

The game also has a number sets that give a bonus when three or four upgraded items from the set are equipped on an unit. This is a great way to add a lot of power to a particular character without spending lots of money.

Many players opt to reroll their gear and weapons, particularly in the early stages of the game. This is because rerolling can provide a much faster route to a more powerful character, allowing them to reach higher levels and advance in the game much more quickly.

Sets

Sets are collections that can be set up in different ways. They could be of various sizes, have no elements, or contain a single element. They can be used to organize data or to sort information. They can also be useful in studying patterns. Sets can be classified in a variety of ways, Item upgrading including by size and shape.

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom provides an extensive selection of upgradeable set items. Certain items are worth upgrading and others aren't. Upgrades are worth it for armor sets that provide high defense and set bonuses. However, upgrades to weapons typically do not improve the quality of the item's stats when in comparison to their purple counterparts. This makes them less appealing to upgrade in the event that your collection of armor and weapons pieces is already large.

Certain set items are upgraded for their own unique functions that can be beneficial in certain builds. This is evident in Aldur's Advance Boots and Guillaume's Face. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, increasing their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement increased as well).

Another reason for upgrading certain items is to bring them into the same level with their counterparts in their tiers. For example, the Immortal King set has a large level range, from 29 to 76. Upgrading lower-level set items can boost their defense and increase their competitiveness in terms of damage.

To determine if a product is worth upgrading, players must click the Upgrade button on their screen of their character. The attributes of the item will be displayed as well as any necessary items. To upgrade the No-mouth face for example, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Players can also check the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.

In general, weapons and armor have higher value when fully updated. Particularly, for weapons that feature damage glyphs that are spell-like or weapon-related, upgrading them to gold is recommended since it will provide a significant improvement in their stats. Armor that has an upgraded appearance will benefit from this upgrade because its defense will increase as it goes from purple to gold.
