WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boosts in specific statistics. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by 3. A random extra substat is also added to every upgrade.

Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless it is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the need to roll to get a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher item upgrader kit level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapon. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to the enchantments.

You can upgrade your gear anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended to visit the upgrader once every couple of weeks to keep your equipment up-to-date.

Upgrades will cost more, based on the level of the item however, they are always less expensive than purchasing new equipment. For instance, upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points, while purchasing the same item from another player will costs 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are useful items that are used to improve the quality of weapons tools, armor, and other accessories. They can be bought by players from NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for a variety of currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be used on any tool, weapon or armor. button, which will show an image of the item upgrades at the next upgrade level in the event that the player has enough materials.

The cost of upgrades varies based on the item slot and the current level of the item, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers for instance. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with certain upgrades offering discounts to reduce the cost of Flightstones or crests that are used. Once an item is upgraded to a certain level and is degraded, it can be sold and Item level upgrade returned to the upgrader for a lower amount of the two currency types.

Many locations have upgraders for their items, including the main Island and a few outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade coupon and a chance to obtain the latest recipe. The upgrade discount increases as more items are upgraded. It can also be increased by having players complete certain achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item level Upgrade upgrader at the start unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. Instead the NPCs that can be used to upgrade require several methods, which is both an improvement but also a drawback.

In Season 3, several new features have been added to the upgrade system. After a player has upgraded to a specific level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same item upgrade level, will cost less. This is even if the items come from another set of equipment.

Using these new currencies isn't that difficult, but the system does introduce some changes to the overall upgrade items process. For instance, once a piece of equipment reaches the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), item Level upgrade it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is designed to allow players to get their equipment to the highest level possible for all their characters rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.

It's also crucial to choose crests with care, since they are only used for one purpose. It is best to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the top-quality equipment you can find, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is especially true for items such as trinkets and rings that take up several slots. The discount for the entire account will only apply when all slots on the character are filled with high-quality equipment.
