The Best Robot Hoover

The best automatic vacuum and mop robot hoover can vacuum and mop without needing your attention, and will leave your floors spotless. Its affordable price and high-end functions (such as a dirt detectors) are a plus.

Like other premium iRobot models (including the top choice), they use smart mapping technology to create detailed floor plans that avoid common obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also feature a feature called carpet boost that boosts the robot's performance when it detects the presence of dirt on the carpet to get it cleaned up quickly.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on bare floors, and they are particularly adept in removing hair from dogs. However, they have several flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. For instance, the Q5's navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance, so it's prone to getting hung up on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tight spaces very well in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that can see around corners.

It's still a great option, especially if you want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly unfinished home or office. Plus, it's very quiet and can be used while you're at work, Best Robot Hoover or school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming feature that's available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping, using disposable wet wipes that don't hold on for long and don't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 has an auto-emptying dock, however. If you need to, the mopping pad can be replaced with a wet one in minutes.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that can also sweep floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as quick navigation make it easy to clean and effective in dealing with larger particles, like pet hair. It also features a powerful suction and self-emptying bin. It's the most efficient robotic hoover for carpets, but it isn't as effective as some of its competitors when it comes to deep cleaning.

It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming, a feature that we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combinations.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

The robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular design that looks more like the regular Roomba model than the boxy models from the rivals. It is one of our most attractive robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent and has advanced features like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).

It's the only robot vacuum/mop that has a perfect 10 in our tests, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It has a simple mobile application interface and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only downside is that the X40 still a loud unit. This could be a problem in mornings prior to work or during the night when you are trying to fall asleep.

It's also a bit expensive however, not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally capable and better looking. This is a two-in-one vacuum that is very efficient however it's going to cost you more and produce more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with many advanced features that let you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes the care of mopping and vacuuming, with a multi-function dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank, and cleans and dry its mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and spot obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its top competitors. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time detection of hazards but this was not foolproof in our testing and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum cleaner has an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to do the job. It also has an option known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas of the house depending on how dirty those areas tend to be.

For bigger homes it's recommended to choose models that has zone or spot cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean one particular area of your house by using the app or voice controls. A stair mode can be useful if you own a lot furniture. For families with busy schedules recharge functions and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to resume where it left off could be very beneficial.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more advanced than its price suggests. It does a stellar job vacuuming, removing 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with a single pad and a rotating motion which is cleaner than the majority of the mop cleaners with robots that vacuum and mop that we've tried. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self-emptying base that can be washed.

The well-designed iRobot application guides you through a mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or organize a spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize your dirtiest areas to improve performance. The app offers a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.

Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, which means it is able to reach corners and under furniture more easily.
