World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading

Item upgrading allows players to increase an item's gear score up to 700 and also add an additional perk. Items can be upgraded by keeping them in inventory, and then taking them to the kiln.

Certain items can be upgraded for their unique stats (like a perfectly rolled breakpoint armour used in melee PvP) while others like weapons don't change much post upgrade and thus aren't worth upgrading.

Weapons

Weapons can be upgraded to improve their numeric stats such as crit chance, attack damage as well as PvE and damage to PvP. Weapons come with a flat rate bonus that increases damage per second. Additionally, many weapons have an added bonus that is activated when three or more of the same weapon are equipped on a single unit. In some cases this bonus could add up to more than the amount of damage that a weapon upgrades by itself.

The cost of upgrading a weapon is contingent on its rarity and current level. For example the weapon with a +2 rating will require two regular Smithing Stones to upgrade while an upgrade of +3 requires four. The number of stones needed to upgrade the gun will increase until it requires an upgrade to a higher level of Smithing Stones. At that point it will reset to one.

Upgraded weapons can also alter their base stats. This is usually a positive aspect, but it may also have negative consequences. Upgrades can make items inaccessible, unless you're exceptionally lucky.

Upgrades can be made to armor items to boost their effectiveness. For instance, if you have chests or helms it will boost its defense base while gloves and belts will improve their required strength and dexterity. Armor also offers a reroll option for its Enhanced Defense percentage, which means that it may reroll to a lower value.

The upgrade template of a weapon will show the new stats that it will gain when upgrading along with the relative value of those stats. This means that a weapon will gain an attack damage of 3% if it is upgraded from an 8 attack damage sword to an 11 attack damage sword. The 3% difference does not mean that the weapon will strike three times less, since it is an absolute number.

A weapon can be rerolled by pressing the green button with circular arrows within the item menu. This will roll the Best item upgrade and change its stats, but it won't reset the weapon's level or tie it to the account status.

Armor

Making a few improvements to your armor can make a huge difference in your ability to endure. Certain sets offer massive increases in poison or curse, fire, and magic resistance, which can make traversing tough areas a breeze. The more defense your character is, the more value you get from every point of health and it's crucial to upgrade your armor as often as you can.

To upgrade your armor, go to any of the Great Fairy Fountains in the game. There are four of them each of which requires you to complete a specific side quest involving the Stable Trotters musical troupe. After you've completed your main quest, and the corresponding fountains, you'll be able to talk to any Great Fairy in order to unlock the menu for upgrading armor.

The amount of materials needed to upgrade each piece of armor is different. You'll require anything between three Red Chuchu jelly and 10 Rupees to upgrade your first armor piece, and anywhere between five Rubies or ten Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns to upgrade the next one. For example the Champion Leathers can be upgraded to +5 defense, allowing you to keep pace with a good-sized group of enemies in the majority of cold environments and the Snowquill Headdress can be upgraded to +20 defense, granting you enough protection to withstand the full-on assault with a handful of friends.

You can't upgrade your armor in the same way as weapons. If you're playing as a Warrior then you should concentrate on upgrading your armor to increase physical strength or the power of spells. It's also worth saving your armor upgrades to use for armor you'll be wearing at the end of the game, such as the Ring of Lightning and Spectral Shield, or the helmet you use to fight the final boss, the Monter Parts Merchant's mask.

By giving the jeweler 10 Twinkling Titanite in Gerudo Town and you will be able to unlock perks for your armor. You'll generally want to save these upgrades to the weapon you'll be using to beat the game. For instance the Longsword or Battleaxe. But it's useful to have a few upgrades to the armor on your chest and helmets to allow you to get around a few monsters.

Potions

Potions are liquids that when consumed by the participant, produce the player with a temporary effect for a short period of time. There are five kinds of potions, each having specific effects and durations. Certain potions can be upgraded to increase their effectiveness. You can also increase the effects of certain potions by adding redstone dust and glowstone dust.

Upgrades to your potion require a specific amount XP. This can be obtained by crafting them on a table, or by storing them in the Alchemist chest. However, the cost of upgrading will vary based on the kind of potion you wish to upgrade, and also on the item upgrader's Mark Level and rarity.

To upgrade a potion, right-click on it in your inventory and Item upgrading select the "Upgrade" option from the menu. This opens a GUI in which you can select the potions you want to upgrade and the amount of XP they will produce when upgraded. You can upgrade potions in batches up to five at a time, and their XP will be added to the total amount of XP you have.

Once a potion is upgraded, it won't degrade until you use it again or break the bottle it is stored in. Clicking on the potion in your inventory will allow you to rename it.

Version 1.7.2 introduced a few changes to the way potions are used. Splash potions for instance have now a duration of 0:08 instead of the 22.5 seconds that are displayed on the hover display of the item. The table of potion can now be constructed using four Wood Planks and two Glass. This allows it to be used by players in Survival and Bedrock. Unlike the Java Edition, Bedrock edition potions cannot be combined in cauldrons. Also, putting a potion on a full cauldron drains the liquid and replenishes the bottle.

In addition, there are simmering potions made using splash and dragon breath potions. In the same way, a lingering potion' effect is extended by adding redstone. The table of potions is laid out more in line with the Java Edition, and new potions were added such as the potion of leaping, the potion of decomposition, and turtle master potions.

Trinkets

A trinket is a tiny and cheap ornament or piece of jewelry. It can be a reference to an object or ornament that serves a purpose, but isn't particularly significant such as a tiny thimble. In some cultures, trinkets are used to symbolize affection or friendship, particularly between family members.

Players can upgrade trinkets as well as weapons, armor, and potions. Upgrades can be obtained by paying the appropriate currency to an upgrade vendor. Trinkets unlike other items that can be upgraded, can be swapped at will without losing stats.

Upgrade vendors are located at the capitals of every zone, and in some instances in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets can be purchased using tokens, gold or fragments of rare trinkets.

Upgrades to trinkets are an economical alternative to buying a new one. A player can upgrade a trinket with as little as 12 tokens. The new trinket has the same base level as the old trinket however, it will also come with an additional 1% bonus upgrade.

Trinkets can be upgraded when they're not needed which allows a player to increase their power and worth over time. They can be traded among players, making them an alternative to gold.

In general players should make upgrades to their highest priority items first. This typically means the top-of-the-line items for their class, then their secondaries, and finally other pieces of gear that they will not be replacing in the near future (for example rings or cloaks). Players should also consider their class's preferred stats when selecting which items to upgrade. For example, if Haste and Crit are the two most important stats for tanks, they should prioritize upgrading their chest, helm, shoulders, and belt.

Trinkets can be re-upgraded to a higher level once they are no longer useful, and the new trinket can be upgraded to have an additional bonus of 1% for upgrading. A re-upgrade, however, will destroy the trinket unless it can be saved using a Black Lion Salvage Kit, or a higher tier salvage tool. This makes upgrading trinkets more expensive than other upgrades, yet is still cheaper than buying the new one.
