WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade increases item level by +3. A random additional substat is also boosted alongside each upgrade.

The upgraded gear typically has a greater value for trade as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or has a high stat variance (like Eth titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as important for the latter due to the requirement to roll an exact version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of weapon or armor. However, the item used to upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enhancements.

You can upgrade your gear at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended to visit the upgrader once every few weeks, to keep your equipment up-to-date.

Upgrades will cost more depending on the level of the item, however they'll always be cheaper than buying new equipment. For instance, upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points while buying a similar item from another player will costs 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase tools, armor, weapon, and accessory upgrades. They are purchased by players through NPCs that sell upgrades to items in exchange for various currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased, it can be applied to any weapon or tool with an button, which will display an image of the Item Level upgrade when it is upgraded if the player has sufficient materials.

The cost of upgrades varies based on the slot of the item upgrader mod and current item level, with weapons costing more than bracers or gloves, for instance. Each upgrade items cost 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Some upgrades offer a discount on the Flightstones. Once an item upgrader kit is upgraded to a certain degree it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.

A lot of locations offer upgraders for items, including the main Island and some outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount and a chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The discount for [Redirect-302] upgrades increases according to the number of items that are being upgraded. It can also be boosted by having players complete some specific achievements or quests.

Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II, there is no upgrader for items available at the start of Icewind Dale. The NPCs who are able to facilitate upgrades are available only via a variety of ways. This is both a positive and a disadvantage.

In Season 3 the upgrade system has been modified a bit, and some new features added. Once the player has upgraded to a specific level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same item upgrader kit level, will cost less. The amount of Valorstones needed for upgrades is decreased, and the discount is account-wide. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is reduced also, but is only available once certain milestones are achieved.

Crests

Players have several options for upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are a currency that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specific and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1 and are available in four ranks.

The first thing to remember is that the crests can only be purchased for gear of a certain rank. Each rank comes with an upgrade path that is different. The simplest and simplest upgrade process costs just 15 crests while the most complex may require as many as 20 crests depending on the type of gear being upgraded.

This change lets players upgrade their gear to the highest possible ilvl for all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

Another significant change is that crests have one usage therefore it's essential to use them wisely. For instance it's a good idea make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests with the Best item upgrade equipment available and save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you plan to make. This is especially applicable to items like rings and trinkets that occupy several slots. The account-wide discount will only apply when all slots on the character are filled with high-quality gear.
