World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades can boost the value of weapons, armors and rings. Upgrades also increase bonuses such as Crit chance and damage from PvE.

If the template for item upgrade upgrading a weapon ends in %, it will be able to gain 3% of its previous damage every time it's upgraded.

The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases as the item level increases.

Components

Upgrade components can be incorporated into trinkets, weapons and armor in order to give them a stat boost or add a bonus effect. These can be obtained by making crafts, buying from vendors, trading with other players or looting. Some upgrades also have specific cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be placed in equipment that has a slot to accommodate them. The item must be at the very least upgraded to blue level in order for the component to be applied. Unlike other mods, upgrade components can only be used once and can't be used multiple times or replaced by new upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a particular kind of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet ascended or legendary equipment, as well as some of the non-ascended back items. Infusions and enrichments are recovered by salvaging ascended gear or completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

A prefix or suffix may be added to an upgrade, changing the name of the item it's applied to (for example, 'Canthan Armor Insignia,' is changed to Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Some upgrades increase the Mark Rarity or Level of an item, which lets players to create stronger versions of the item using less Upgrade crystals than they would need to reach the same level using normal methods.

A 'boost' upgrade can change the attack or defence attributes of the weapon or armor. Once the player has completed the cutscene and defeated Crazed Mechanist, these upgrades can be created at the Portative Forging Station. These upgrades can be purchased by purchasing them from the cash shop, or by collecting them from enemies when upgrading other gear.

Each upgrade increases the probability that a higher tier version of the item will be dropped in the next reset. This gives the player an incentive to keep upgrading their gear even if they're uncertain of how much it will increase after a future reset.

The process of upgrading an item can be costly and it's possible that the item will be obsolete, or even break, in the event that the upgrade item is unsuccessful. Upgrade Crystals and assist powders are also destroyed when an upgrade fails. This is alleviated by the availability cash shop items to increase or even eliminate the possibility of failure, as well as some upgrades that offer the benefit of being reinserted into an item.

Glyphs

Glyphs are upgrade parts which can be put in special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs buff the effectiveness of all nodes in a radius around them, including pre-existing affixes on equipment. Glyphs are upgraded in a variety of ways, and we recommend upgrading them to 15 levels whenever you can.

In the endgame you'll often discover that the best way to enhance your gear is by placing Glyphs. They are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded straight to level 15 and provide a large boost to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to climb higher nodes more quickly.

Glyphs, which is the only upgrade component which can be removed without restriction and then replaced again, are the most common. The only exception is legendary equipment that requires the use of a Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and re-place.

The value of each Glyph is displayed when you choose it in your inventory. You can replace it with a Glyph that is the same or higher rank to increase the value of the Glyph.

Glyphs are available in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of an Gem Store bundle or purchase the glyphs with certain tools that allow unlimited use and also during Faction Crypt Raids. Each Faction Crypt could drop one of these Glyphs. There are also some rare glyphs that you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.

Once you have obtained the desired Glyphs you'll require them to be placed on your equipment. Leveling

These points can be used to upgrade the item, and when enough are earned, the upgrade will be claimed and the additional bonuses will be added to the item.

When a player upgrades an item to a higher level, the original item is replaced with a different item of the same type. The same armor can be transformed into the form of a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item will also have a unique bonus. This could be a drawback because it can cause the item to become more expensive, even if you don't need it.

Item upgrades can sometimes be rerolled if the player has enough tokens to be able to do this. The item will be replaced by an entirely new item that has a level 1 basis and completely different bonuses. This is a good idea but it should not be repeated often since it can be a waste of resources.

Some upgrades can be rerolled several times which increases their value and allowing the player to customize their gear. A good example of this is Dolphin's Gift, which gives a buff when the player repeatedly enters and exits water (or does not swim as dolphins). Requirements

Item upgrading allows players to boost the level of their available equipment - weapons, armor, and trinkets over ilvl 385 by offering the appropriate items and currencies to an item upgrader NPC. Upgrades to armor set pieces also boost the defense of the base set, while upgrades to weapon items increase their base damage as well as the required strength and dexterity.

All items can be upgraded a maximum of five times, with the exception of hero gear, which can be upgraded up to eight times. Each time you upgrade an object it is at risk of failing. The failure rate increases as you go over the maximum number. Failures will result in the item returning to its original state and the player having to purchase more resources than if they had stopped upgrading after the maximum number.

If an item fails to upgrade the amount of experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. Additionally the item will lose any bonuses it gained such as crit chance, attack damage, and all additional effects associated with that effect (for example, increased heal over time or speed of reload). The player is able to use their weapon or armor after the failure.

When an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied in order from the lowest to the highest. This means that if a weapon gains an increase in its crit chance, the increase is applied prior to any increase in attack damage. Slots is a brand new attribute that was added to item definitions. The value is recalculated every time an upgrade occurs.

The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is determined on the rarity rating as well as the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium items is equal to the base value of the upgrade--for instance, a standard equipment item might have 5 upgrades, each costing 25,600 Technology Points and 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero quality items will have a much lower cost for each additional upgrade.
