The X1 Omni is most notable for its enormous dock that doubles as a charging base for the robot vacuum best, a cleaning sink and two 4-liter water tanks. It also houses the 2.5-liter dust bin and an 2.5 dust bin that is 2.5 liters.

The base has several control buttons that allow you to manually start cleaning tasks, recall the robot or run the dock’s auto-emptying procedure. Hold down two of the buttons to toggle the child lock that is a great feature for parents who are worried about their children playing with the vacuum.

Like other robotic cleaner and mop vacuums the Omni Omni utilizes its camera to detect furniture and obstacles in its path and avoid them. Its True Mapping 2.0 navigation system can map your home 10 times faster than standard laser detection systems and is four times more precise at recognizing objects.

This can cause the X1 to get stuck if it gets entangled in an obstacle like a power cable tangled over a rug. It will not work until you untangle it manually. Although this is not a common occurrence, it was a frustrating experience when it did happen, especially since the X1 Omni doesn't come with an "stuck" status alert in its application.

Another issue that could be a problem is one of the biggest drawbacks is X1 Omni's inability to automatically switch between vacuuming and mopping modes during a cleaning session. You'll have to manually swap between the two, which isn't too bad except for the fact that mopping pads haven't been cleaned and dried between use, which can lead to mildew or mold.

On the positive side the X1 Omni is a beautiful-looking robot, thanks to the design team at Jacob Jensen (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who conceptualized its sleek, modern-looking base and mopping pad. It's a big departure from the utilitarian all-black bases of competitors like Roborock or iRobot. And it's an impressive sight in the market that is dominated by boxy units.
