WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade increases the level of the item upgrading by +3. A random substat is also added to every upgrade.

Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless the item level upgrade (more about Mdwrite) is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are less important for the latter because of the requirement to roll a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any kind of armor or weapons. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be used to create Enchantments.

The upgrader is located in every major city, and can be visited at any time to upgrade your equipment. To keep your gear up-to-date it is recommended you visit the upgrader every couple of weeks.

The cost of upgrading will depend on the current level of the equipment being upgraded but they will always be less expensive than buying new gear from other sources. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item upgrades will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are functional items that are used to upgrade weapons tools, armor, and other accessories. They can be purchased by players from item upgraders NPCs for various currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any tool, weapon, or armor. button, which displays a preview of the item at its next upgrade level when the player has enough materials.

The cost of upgrading is based on the slot of the item and the current item level and the weapon's price is higher than gloves or bracers, for instance. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Certain upgrades provide a discount on the Flightstones. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain level and is degraded, it can be sold and returned to the upgrader for a lesser amount of the two currencies.

Upgraders for items can be found at many locations on the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade coupon as well as the possibility of getting a new recipe. The discount on upgrades increases with the number of items being upgraded. It is also possible to be increased by requiring players to complete specific achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an upgrader for items at the start, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. Instead the NPCs that are available to facilitate upgrades are acquired via a variety of means which is both an improvement but also a drawback.

Crests

When upgrading gear in WoW, players have a variety of choices. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more special, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.

First, you must be aware that the crests can only be purchased for gear with a certain rank. Each rank comes with distinct upgrade paths. The simplest and easiest upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complex upgrade could require as much as 20 crests, depending on the type or equipment that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by working through content that is of the appropriate level, whether that means walking around and doing outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons of all difficulty for items of higher tier or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons for endgame gear. The crests can then be exchanged with an Best item upgrade upgrader, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and paths.

Utilizing these new currencies isn't that difficult, but the system will introduce a few modifications to the upgrade process. When a piece has reached the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it no longer requires Flightstones. This change is designed to allow players to get their equipment up to the highest ilvl possible on all their characters, instead of relying only on seasonal loot.

Another significant modification is that crests have one purpose and it's crucial to use them wisely. For instance, it's a good idea to utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests on the Best item upgrader gear you have available and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you're planning to create. This is particularly applicable to rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character that will be able to benefit from the account-wide discount if all slots are full of high-quality equipment.
