World of Warcraft - Item Upgrade

Item upgrades allow players to raise the item level of weapons and armor that are equippable. This increases the power of the gear, as well as sometimes adding buffs or rolling an affix again.

It is important to note that even though you can upgrade your magic and common equipment, it's usually not worth it. Rare and exclusive gear will quickly outclass upgraded magic and common gear.

The amount of Gold required for upgrading increases when the item is upgraded to the next level.

Upgraded items also come with enhanced stats that can boost its performance in different ways. This may include increasing its attack power or Item upgrades critical strike chance. An upgraded item may also provide additional buffs to the weapon it is equipped with. These upgrades are able to be used for a variety of reasons for example, to increase the overall strength of an individual or group unit. They also can affect the overall gameplay.

Items can be upgraded by any NPC that is an upgrader in the game. These NPCs can be found in major questing areas or capital cities. Players can also find item upgraders when they visit dungeons with high-level bosses and by talking to NPCs in their garrisons of their faction.

The World of Warcraft item upgrade system allows players to upgrade the level of weapons, armor and trinkets. The process is similar to the process used for gear reforging in Mists of Pandaria and Warlords of Draenor however instead of using the currency appropriate to the task, players must visit an NPC for upgrading items to complete the process.

Upgrades can be expensive especially for weapons and armor. Based on the upgrade track you choose, each item upgrade can cost Valorstones or Crests. The costs can be prohibitive for those who don't have the money, or are unwilling to grind.

The game allows you to play a reroll of an upgraded item level upgrade with a special tool in the menu of items. This option allows you to exchange the upgraded item for a level 1 version of it which comes with an additional set of bonus effects. This can be useful to get better rolls on items that have already been upgraded. However, it could also be a waste.

Requirements

Upgrading is the process of increasing the level of equippable items like trinkets, weapons, and armor. This improves their stats and can make them more effective in combat. Players can upgrade their gear by spending appropriate currencies at an item upgrader NPC. However, they should be aware that certain upgrades require special requirements.

Early upgrades only increase the stats of the item's base level. Later upgrades offer more significant increases. Upgrades from levels 3 to 6 will increase the weapon's damage plus two levels. A bonus stat will also be added to the upgraded item based on the level. The bonus is a combination of a guaranteed substat as well as random generated stats that can vary from upgrade to upgrade.

Time

Items upgrades can be used to increase the performance of your equipment and ship without the need to upgrade them. Although upgrading isn't cheap, Item upgrades it can be an excellent way to increase your stats without having to spend a lot of time in battle. Each upgrade boosts the base stat of an item by a specific amount and also offers a chance for a bonus substat increase. Certain upgrade components also have cosmetic effects. Players can obtain upgrade items by crafting, purchasing from vendors or on the Trading Post, looting, or obtaining an incentive. Players can also retrieve upgraded items by using an Upgrade extractor, or salvage with a high tier salvage kit. Glyphs that are placed on tools for gathering are able to be swapped.

By selecting the item and pressing the green button, which has an arrow for rerolling, a player can reroll it into another upgradeable item. This alters the layout of the item window and allow players to choose up to six items to "recycle". The item that is recycled will be exchanged with a level 1 item similar to it.
