Path of Exile Item Upgrading

The ability to upgrade items allows players to improve their weapons and equipment with new affixes, boosting its base stats or giving additional benefits. To upgrade an item, a player has to have it in their inventory, as well as access to the kiln.

Usually, items that have weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a more powerful base while objects with strong bases, such as Eth titans don't change in their stats following being upgraded.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be incorporated into weapons, armor, trinkets and tools for gathering, offering an attribute bonus or additional effect while the equipment is being used. They can be purchased from vendors, or found in loot from enemies, or obtained from missions and chests. Certain upgrades also have cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level before they are upgraded.

To upgrade an armor, weapon or other item upgrading in the game, the player will need to select it and then click on the Upgrade button in the toolbar. This will display on the right-hand side of the screen a preview showing the expected upgrade stats as well as the necessary component or materials.

There are three kinds of upgrade components that are universal upgrades, prefix upgrades and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, such as gems, can be used on any kind of equipment. They offer a lesser bonus than upgrade components that have a specific type restriction. Infusions, which can only be placed in ascended gear and legendary equipment are similar to jewels but have higher bonuses and are not able to be placed in any other kind of equipment. Suffix upgrades that can be put in gathering tools, will include their name at the end of the name of the item they are attached to, for instance adding an Glyph to the Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor will change it to a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.

If an individual upgrades a gathering tool, and then replaces the glyphs by a different one the previous one will be returned to their inventory. If you replace any other upgrade component, it will be destroyed, with the exception for the inscriptions that can be freely swapped.

Leveling

The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some significant variations from previous versions. Gear is now broken down into tracks and items can be upgraded a specific number of times before they're "leveled out." The upgrade costs increase with each level, but the materials required do not. This allows players to focus their efforts on a couple of important items to maximize their impact instead of spreading the upgrade costs across multiple pieces.

If an item is finished being leveled, it will be able to receive a new set of upgrade components, and an increase in the probability that the upgrade will succeed. This bonus is known as the Artisan's Energy. It resets to 0 if the upgrade fails or item upgrader kit increases if the upgrade succeeds.

When a piece of equipment is upgraded to its highest level, it will be able to receive affixes that will enhance its capabilities. The number of affixes available is determined by the item's class. For example the rare or exclusive weapon with a base that is normal will only have two affixes available for it and legendary armors will have up to eight affixes available for it.

Each upgrade will require the use of a certain amount of Flightstones and crests to complete based on the current level of the item and the slot it's in. Typically, weapons require more Flightstones to upgrade than other types of equipment.

If an item fails to reach its maximum level, the NPC offers the player the choice to transfer it to another character and then re-infuse it with a different set of upgrades. This procedure can take as long as two hours and will cost the same amount of materials. However it has a lower success rate.

Engineers will employ a level to measure the height of the building against a known location, such as an existing benchmark. This is referred to as a "level-loop." This involves taking readings using the level, backsighting rod, and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method ensures that structures are built to a high level of accuracy and security.

Rerolling

Rerolling refers to the process of altering the upgrade components of an item. It is an essential element of the game and can increase an Best item upgrade's damage, strength, or other attributes. You can do this through the item menu, or by pressing the Reroll button when you upgrade an item. Rerolling is costly and should only be done in very rare instances.

The game allows players to recycle upgraded items, which are used to obtain tokens for rerolls. These tokens can be used to upgrade either the original item or a comparable item upgrader kit (helpful site). Recyclable items come with an indicator of the level which shows how much of the upgrade gauge is filled. The amount of level that has been filled depends on the rarity and the upgrade cost of the item.

In the past, some upgrade items were affixed with priority that made them easier to roll for than other. This meant that you could receive the stats that mattered most to your build often than others. These included things such as the armor's total armor, thorns and duration reduction stats that are controlled or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.

This was changed in the latest patch. Priority affixes are no longer required and all upgrades will have the same chance of rolling for each stat. This can be good or bad, based on what you want and need from your equipment.

Each upgraded item may have a unique bonus that boosts the item's power by a fixed percentage or a flat amount. These bonuses are added to normal affixes. The more you improve an item, the greater the chance of receiving the bonus of your choice.

The game also has a number sets that give a bonus when three or four upgraded items from the set are equipped on an unit. This is a great method to add lots of power to a character without spending lots of money.

Many players reroll their weapons and gear particularly in the beginning stages. This is because rerolling can offer a quicker route to becoming a strong character and allows them to climb higher levels and progress in the game much more quickly.

Sets

Sets are collections that can be arranged in different ways. They can have various sizes, contain no elements at all or have a single element. They can be used to organize data or to sort information. They can also be useful in studying patterns. Sets can be classified in various ways such as size and shape.

There are a range of set items available to upgrade in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Some are worth upgrading, others aren't. Armor sets with the highest defense value or set bonuses are typically worth upgrading. Upgrades to weapons aren't as effective in improving stats as their purple counterparts. This makes them less attractive to upgrade if you already have many weapons or armor pieces already.

Set items can be upgraded to include specific procs that are useful for certain builds. This is evident in Aldur's Advance Boots and Guillaume's Face. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, boosting their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement was increased as well).

Another reason for upgrading certain items is to bring them into the same level with their tiers. The Immortal King Set, for instance, is a huge range of levels, from 29 to 75. The upgrade of lower-level items in the set can increase their defense and increase their competitiveness in terms of damage.

Clicking the Upgrade button will display the item's attributes and the necessary items needed to upgrade it. This will display the item level upgrade's characteristics, as well as the items needed to upgrade it. For example, the No-mouth Face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials and 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade. Generally speaking the jewelry and weapons have more value for trade when they are fully upgraded than armor. Upgrades to gold are recommended for weapons with weapons-damage or spell glyphs.
