Robots that vacuum and mop provide the convenience of cleaning dry debris (dust dirt, grit) and wet messes (spills and stains) in one session without the need to switch out devices. They also can save space compared to two separate units, particularly in smaller living areas.

The S1 Pro is a powerful small machine that can mops up a storm and is a great vacuum cleaner too. The mops are spun at a high speed and utilize 2.2 pounds (1kg of force) to remove dirt, pet hair and sticky dried spills. The vacuum cleaner comes with four power settings, a variety of brushes and attachments, and an intuitive app that lets you choose the type of cleaning you want for each room.

For instance, you can choose to have the robot take care of a thorough clean-up in the living and kitchen but go easy on the spare bedroom. The S1 Pro has excellent front collision sensors as well as smart navigation technology. It is able to detect small obstacles that other models can't. The only issue it has is that it can crash into walls and objects at full speed - but an instant glance at the history of cleaning within the app will show you exactly what it's doing, where it's going, and which obstacles it's avoided.

The docking station features an LCD display that shows the time when maintenance is required for cleaning up debris and rinsing the dirty water tank. It's also able to mix detergent automatically into the water tank by using a 600ml bottle filled with the eufy's solution.

Both the S1 Pro vacuum and mop have plenty of run-time and the mop is able to operate for up to 184 minutes in quiet mode and the vacuum able to do 136 minutes in normal mode before having to recharge or return to the base to refill. The app is simple to use and intuitive and lets you see every aspect of the cleaning.

2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra

The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, the latest version of Roborock's top-of-the-line robot vacuum and mop is the newest version. The model of this year features a double agitator built into its mopping pad. This increases the cleaning capabilities of carpets with this model. The S8 Pro Ultra has an enhanced suction power that allows it to remove smaller hairs as well as other debris other robotic cleaners might miss.

Like the two other Roborock models I've tried the S8 Pro Ultra has a reactive 3D obstacle avoidance and infrared technology to can help it avoid walls, furniture and other obstacles. However, the S8 Pro Ultra takes things a step further by incorporating a dual camera that can detect objects and decide whether they are a wall or another type of surface. It can then change its path automatically and clean around the objects without missing a step.

It's the most expensive model I've tested however it also comes with the most features. Its sleek, angular style is attractive and it has only three physical buttons that include the power button that also resumes cleaning; a mop-only button that doubles as a child lock and a home button that can bring the best robot cleaner back to its dock. The hinged lid opens up to reveal a 350ml dustbin and 200ml water tank. The water tank automatically emptys and robots that vacuum and mop the bin fills up automatically.

The only negative I discovered with this model is that its VibraRise mop pad mount isn't removable. While you can swap out the mopping cloth (if needed) but it's a challenge to remove the mount itself to wash it manually. I've noticed that any plush carpet that the robot touches will come into contact with the rough Velcro-like fastener system on the mount, and that could cause scratches.

The S8 Pro Ultra has a number of smart capabilities, including support for Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri. You can manage and set up these via the Roborock app that is also home to its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app allows you to schedule cleanings and monitor the life of batteries and maintenance on components. However, you'll need to jump through a few hoops in order to allow voice control with this model, which is a shame considering how well it performs otherwise.

3. Dreame X40

The Dreame X40 robot vacuum and mop is an industry leader with innovative features, superior suction power, and advanced mowing abilities. Its intelligent design allows you to personalize and efficiently clean while saving time.

The X40 is the first robot vacuum cleaner to provide 12,000 Pascals of cleaning power, which makes it one of the most effective options available. This powerful vacuum can clean up the dry mess, which includes pet hair and dust. It comes with a mop of excellent quality that can clean hard floors without the need for pads. The X40 is also extremely quiet in operation and only occasionally bursting during modes changes or self-maintenance.

Another standout characteristic is the X40's extendable and liftable side brush, which lets it get into difficult-to-access corners as well as clean curved furniture like table and chairs' legs. They can also adjust suction power, change modes, look at floor plans and maps and manage mopping settings. The X40 can also track its progress and inform you when it's finished.

The X40 is easy to maintain and has many convenient features that make it a great option for busy families. Its docking station automatically empties the dustbin into a large 3.2 L bin, cleans the mop pads, and refills them with clean water and a cleaning solution. It can also tell when the mop pad is filled and notify you before it gets overflowing, reducing the requirement for manual maintenance.

4. L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a high-end robot that is among the most expensive on the market however, it comes with many additional features that set it apart. Smart DuoScrub is a brand new feature on its mops, uses two mop heads with high-speed motors to scrub floors more thoroughly. It also has a maximum suction force of 7,000Pa. This is much higher than the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra or Ecovacs Deebot T20 Omni, and it can vacuum up pet hair and small dirt particles - and also pick up spills and wet spots.

The mops are also cleaned and dried inside the base station after each use. This feature is great because it prevents mould and unpleasant odours from accumulating in storage. It also makes the mop system more efficient. It's a system that we haven't yet seen on other robot vacuum and mop models and could be a good method of keeping your home hygienic for longer.

There are a lot of options, including the option to schedule cleaning times and adjust preferences. They can be set through the app or buttons on the unit itself. The app is easy to use and provides a variety of options for customising the cleaning routine, and there are numerous features that other robots don't include, for instance, the Clean Genius mode that automatically increases suction power whenever it detects dust particles, instead of relying on the manual setting.

The L20 Ultra has a stylish design with a white-and-metallic finish that looks elegant and sophisticated. It's a bit heavier at 4kg than some of the other robots on this listing but it's not a lot of weight. It feels solid and well-built. The mopping design is also excellent and the double-rotating mop is great for hard floors as well as in corners. The MopExtend feature allows them to extend up to 2mm below the baseboards.
